Brooks = Game Changer

The whole team definitely seemed to move up a gear when he came on. Even Stearman tried a cheeky overhead kick that was on target, but blocked by a defender

there is an agenda against Wilson

He doesn't seem to get involved in the game, one time tonite he had the ball, for an easy pass to Baldock

Turned, ran across the pitch and tried a worldy to Stevens .... throw in

He needs to be up front, and lurking in the box, thats Billy's job ..... unless Billy gets injured, he is gonna see plenty of Bench

Something bugs me about his lack of game time in that I reckon he’s on his way. I know nothing of whether he’s gone or not, but for me, as he is our player, why isn’t he playing more? Don’t give me this “he’s young” stuff. Sessegnon is 17 and playing every week. Why isn’t Brooks? You can see he’s got that something. Why aren’t we utilising him more?

I think Wilson is getting some unfair criticism on here, you can tell technically he's a great player.

.

You can argue he is better then what he has shown so far... but have a care with the use of the word “Great”

Once every so often a player comes along that brightens up the whole pitch. A player that you genuinely look forward to seeing play. You applaud him coming on and perhaps give a cheeky smile and a nod to your pal next to you, who is thinking the exact same thing. The acknowledgement that, hopefully, you're about to watch summet very good.

That's David Brooks for me at the moment. Long may it continue.

I think Wilson is getting some unfair criticism on here, you can tell technically he's a great player and he doesn't waste it much when it's at his feet. He's barely had any chances to feed off when he's played and I think if he had one or two sniffs at goal he'd be putting it away.

He's not going to win any plaudits when he's being asked to hold the ball up or constantly running back to our defence which he has been.

He needs to spend more time playing in the right direction. His body shape always has him facing back or away fbrom goal. Brooks on the other hand opens his body up and is only ever facing goalwards

Because he's been very ill?

We'd already started to cause them more problems before he came on. He certainly had an impact, but to lay the root cause at his door is a little unfair on some of the others.

Personally I'd have started him tonight, but in the knowledge he was to run himself into the ground for 60 mins then come off... However, there's a reason Wilder is protecting him!

Can we put to bed the notion that Brooks is an attacking midfielder.

He is a striker, he does well on the shoulder of the last man and can finish

I think he can do both, but we probably get more out of him up front, as it allows him to combine with Duffy.

Love the kid , hope he doesn't leave but the inevitability is he will when we don't go up , if he does go I will wish him all the best and follow his career .

Im confident he'll be with us next season.

I know exactly what you mean. I've only been watching since 2002, and I haven't seen many fast, direct players who can carry the ball and excite the crowd like he does. I'm struggling to think of others, maybe Jamie Murphy or Steve Kabba.

Playing him less = trying to sell him

Leon's going to have to wait. The Duffy/Brooks combination is key to us reviving our season, it's a no-brainer.

I think that Leon will be re-instated because he is the only one who gives us that height and presence up top - other than the Don and he's out of form. You might be right though and I would definitely start Brooks over Wilson.

I think Wilson honestly just needs service - remember that overhead kick against Villa, he's got serious class but he's just not being given the chances to get us the goals

Brooks cannot start yet because of a medical issue according to Wilder

Yeah...I found something a bit 'off' with how Wilder spoke about Brooks. Maybe just me. Seemed to want to gloss over him very quickly.

I love the way Brooks always seems to pass the ball into the net, very stylish.
However he struggles when shooting from distance, his timing goes completely when he tries to blast it.

Bloody ridiculous that he didn't start tonight.

Excellent.

But I’d confidently predict that goal doesn’t happen if any of our other CFs played the role Sharp did for the deft touch to Duffy.

Sublime.

UTB
Absolutely, best part of the whole match, superb touch from Sharp, he made the goal in that split second.

Mind you Blackmans left handed save wasn't bad though, was it! :)

It's no coincidence that once Brooks started running up front that Sharp also started to be freed up. That's the benefit of pace. We've relied on getting that from the width and the overloads but as the season's gone on it's been very difficult to keep up that kind of intensity with our lack of squad depth. Whatever happens with Brooks in the closed season we'll need to have that kind of movement and speed in the forward line.

I agree but you must realise that someone has to play the part of the scapegoat..of the current squad, Leon, Lunny, Lafferty, have all dabbled with the position. Stearman & Donaldson have been put forward by some for the role and by the criticism he seems to be unfairly gathering atm mister Wilson is unfortunately being lined up by some for the role.
Twas ever thus...

Blackman is going to be pure class !
Never seen a goalkeeper catch so many balls coming into the box..amazing considering his age..not bad with the odd great save either.

Back on bench Saturday
Yeah most probably, Wilder said that he's still got a medical issue

What a player.

Since coming on to the pitch tonight he has completely changed the flow of the game. We were by no means playing badly but were looking somewhat slow and ponderous and Burton were enjoying their best spell of the game. On comes Brooks and everything that we do suddenly moves up a gear. Passes are played more quickly, there is more movement and therefore more players in space wanting the ball and making things happen.

Not only does he scare the shit out of the opposition with his quick thinking, feet and running but he also encourages the rest of the team to play the same.

What a player he is going to be. Hopefully for us...

I'm happier for Enda Stevens finally getting into the box and getting in at the front post (Right Side)

Our system of wing backs only works if those wing backs are effective in that last 3rd of the pitch, as well as doing all the other work in the first two thirds.

So Baldock and Stevens working together like that pleases me much more.

Wilson either fits in to our system and how we play or he doesn’t .... I’ve seen nothing so far to suggest he does so he shouldn’t start.... my Derby mates told me he would be like this; flashed of brilliance but no end product ... my prediction is he will be playing for a lower positioned championship club next season or even league 1.

Brooks took hold of the game when he came on and made things happen instead of waiting for things to happen which is what Wilson does.
