Brooks = Game Changer

It's clear that brooks can't start games after listening to wilder because of his current medical issue. He's got pace as we all know and took his goal very well last night. I'd posted earlier that I thought he should start on Saturday but I was wrong!!!. ( who'd have thought it?). That's why I'd make a shite football manager!!. UTB

I think I agree that he needs to start, but (and I say this ready to receive some abuse ;)) in the games he has started, he hasn't been great.

I think CW has been right to date, having him as an impact sub. Imagine with 20 mins to go and you're starting to tire and you see Brooksy ready to come on and you have to find some extra energy to catch the little scamp.

Yeah most probably, Wilder said that he's still got a medical issue

I'm happier for Enda Stevens finally getting into the box and getting in at the front post (Right Side)

Our system of wing backs only works if those wing backs are effective in that last 3rd of the pitch, as well as doing all the other work in the first two thirds.

So Baldock and Stevens working together like that pleases me much more.
Baldock has been superb all season tbf. really consistent.

I think Wilson is getting some unfair criticism on here, you can tell technically he's a great player and he doesn't waste it much when it's at his feet. He's barely had any chances to feed off when he's played and I think if he had one or two sniffs at goal he'd be putting it away.

He's not going to win any plaudits when he's being asked to hold the ball up or constantly running back to our defence which he has been.

I fully agree with this. Nobody seems to have mentioned the excellent ball that Wilson whipped across the box for Sharp in the second half.

We'd already started to cause them more problems before he came on. He certainly had an impact, but to lay the root cause at his door is a little unfair on some of the others.

Personally I'd have started him tonight, but in the knowledge he was to run himself into the ground for 60 mins then come off... However, there's a reason Wilder is protecting him!
Agree with this, we looked better in the second half and thought wilson had some good touches

Problem is mate is that when Leon comes back, which he will do very soon. that means Duffy will be the only player that Brooks could come in for on current form. Duffy has been so consistent that it would be harsh to drop him. Its a great problem to have and had Brooks been fit all season I think we'd probably be nearer the top two than 7th.
He doesn't play in duffys position and the most exciting strike pair this season has been brooks/Clarke

Something bugs me about his lack of game time in that I reckon he’s on his way. I know nothing of whether he’s gone or not, but for me, as he is our player, why isn’t he playing more? Don’t give me this “he’s young” stuff. Sessegnon is 17 and playing every week. Why isn’t Brooks? You can see he’s got that something. Why aren’t we utilising him more?
He's been out with a debilitating illness for several months

I couldn’t work out from Wilder’s interview whether the medical issue preventing him from starting is still the glandular fever recovery or the “neck injury that has set him back” that he then referred to.

I think he may still be having these spasms in his neck/back which means he can’t do 90 minutes yet.

Great to watch, what a talent we have.

Brooks is quality however he’s so much more effective once we have a lead... I’m still not sure he gets the starting nod over (a fully fit) Clarke (in home games) for me and I’m also not so sure his performance last night was as awesome as everyone seems to think it was. Brooks is quality.

With Duffy and Brooks starting and Holmes ready to replace whoever tires first we would have a team capable of playing Forest off the park. I think we should go sh1t or bust but that's why I'm not a manager !
Yeh. Duffy and Brook should always be on the pitch at the same time. Earlier in the season it was an either or selection from CW.
But Duffys range of passing improves so much when he’s got someone like Brooks to pass to.

I’m afraid that’s what you have to do at this level. The lad is probably used to better service at MU. But having to graft is all part of his education.

He did graft last night - i just don’t think people can write him off based on what they’ve seen

I noticed before the game he stayed out a couple of minutes extra with the subs practising going down the right and whipping in crosses; with improvement there (and with more players in the box), he will be an even better player.

Giggs now fully part of the great Brooks conspiracy to limit game time and get him sold. Or alternatively he’s sensibly not being sent over to China if he’s still not fit enough to start for us. He is however in the U21s. Nice to see Evans keeping his place in the squad.

Just been on Radio Pig that CW has said Brooks is now fit to start. :)

“He can start. He’s not ready to play 90 minutes” – so yes, he may well be able to start, but if he’s limited on the number of minutes he can play... I’m happy to leave that to Wilder and the advice of the medical staff.

Seen an interview with Brooksy today where he admits to being a big Man U fan.

I’m very disappointed this forum hasn’t found out this information previously and had him lined up to be sold to Man U.

Giggs is working on the deal as we speak.

Let’s enjoy his skills whilst we can.

Keep up at the back! You're way behind with the news mate.

We are swapping him for Wilson at the end of the season. As Wilson has Premier and Europa League game experience, Manyoo wanted Brooks and £5m, but clever Kev managed to just make it a straight player swap.
