Is anyone else on here going? I'm sure it'll be a new ground for many.

Yup, not had the tickets delivered yet though......

My ticket arrived this morning. Number 34.

Looking forward to this trip as part of a mini holiday. Long drive mind you. 5 hours+

HH

Aye, we'll be on the terrace, sure it'll be lovely and warm in Bristol as always :)

Any recommendations on pubs?

We're going down in the car also. It was a bit late on to get the train - too pricey!

We'll probably have a look at the Annexe Inn on Seymour Road.

Cheers Foxy. Just read up on that and it seems good for some proper ale. Might see you in there.

If only I lived in Hungary, I could watch it live on tv ;)

And someone tell rovers fans that we only ever score 1 goal per game... Except for Bournemouth

will be there on the terrace. making a weekend of it, although the mrs will be in some sort of girly spa while I'm at the match. will probably head up to the annexe at lunchtime, but will give youse a shout foxy in the morning

I went to the Watney Cup final at Eastville in 1972 and went to the 1-1 draw at Twerton Park in January 1989.

Saw an article from Blademad about the 3-1 away defeat at the end of the 1976-77 season. i am amazed at the last sentence of the below article

UNTED FANS IN TRAIL OF TERROR AT WESTON.
Sheffield United club secretary Keith Walker denounced as ‘disgusting’ the behaviour
of fans who had smashed up a pub and a seafront zoo in Weston-super- Mare on a weekend trip to watch the Blades last match of the season, a 3-1 defeat against Bristol Rovers.
Nine people were arrested for offences ranging from assault to burglary.
Trouble first flared after Rovers fans invaded the pitch at the end of the game.
There was a fight and a stone throwing battle in a car park.
Many Blades fans had stayed in Weston on the Friday night before the game and went back to the resort after the match.
At the pub, fans in a group of 50 smashed windows and glasses, set off fire extinguishers and helped themselves to drinks.
At the zoo, fish tanks were smashed, and a monkey was released.
The monkey walked back into the zoo five hours later.

The game is also being shown live in various places in Asia, I understand...

I've seen a tweet from Terry Kennedy saying he's on the coach to Bristol. Does that suggest he's likely to be involved tomorrow? Any idea on who's in the matchday squad?

Sadly, I'm not match fit ;)

Tel is indeed travelling

I'm fascinated by this story. The tone of the sentence is as if the monkey had been on a shopping trip - day release from the zoo. Assuming the match was a 3pm kick off - the Blades wouldn't have been back in Weston to commit carnage until early evening. Assuming the monkey being released was one of the first acts committed then that means it wouldn't have walked back into the zoo until around midnight. I can't imagine there being much (if any) CCTV around in 1977 so who saw the monkey walk back in that time? It's possible the zoo staff had been working late to clear up the damage or it could have been a member of the public. If the monkey casually walked back in where had it been? Did anyone spot it walking around Weston? What did the monkey do when it walked back in? Go to it's enclosure - presumably this had been locked again to prevent further releases or just wait around until the staff arrived assuming they weren't already there clearing up?

Was anyone there who can shed any light on this story?

I am not sure but these three fellers were not giving the game away

I would have predicted 1-0 to the Blades if the normal league squad was playing but if we field a team similar to the one that played Notts in the JPT then I predict 1-3 to the Blades with Miller grabbing a brace

I am fascinated too. I doubt that it would have been a chimpanzee as it would have been a danger to humans. What type of monkey that would always go back to its home? nothing beat home, eh?

I spoke to a workmate who lives in Weston yesterday who told me that there has never been a zoo in Weston so doesn't know where the monkey could have come from.
