How can any self-respecting Blade be happy to risk potential success for ourselves for the sake of the Pigs getting 3 points which probably won't make a jot of difference to their season :)
The way I see it, there's plenty of scope for Bristol City to drop points in their other remaining fixtures - away at Cardiff today, for example :)

It's like buying a ticket for the Euromillions (and keeping it safe) and then finding a second, do you keep it or bin it saying 'if I'm going to win it, it'll be with the £2 I spent'?
For purposes of this analogy there is no 'theft by finding' law.

It's the typical race to be shit mentality both Sheffield teams have. I will take whatever victory from other sides to make us successful. Too many shit teams for them to go down.

Got a draw written all over it mind.

It won't be season defining if Bristol City win (there's two points between us and we still have them to play) but a Wednesday win would be handy. It's win-win really. One result helps us in the table, the other result drags that lot down into a potentially hilarious relegation battle.

The results are in and the verdict is:

Go on the Owls!!!!!

Wondering when was the last we wanted them to win (though appreciate its more a case of hoping Bristol City will lose)

Fully expect them to disappoint us of course which should be the best silver lining there is XD

Take a 0-0 draw but judging by the weather forecast for the south west it may well be off anyway.

Can I be the first to confess that when Reading scored, the thought went through my mind that if we lost, at least Reading would move up above S6. I think it is a default defence mechanism against all the years of failure. Billy helped dismiss the unworthy thought very quickly.

let's be greedy on this 0-0 would be good.

Bristol are one of 5 clubs fighting for 6th spot at present.

We should of course look above us to 5th, but Wolves/Cardiff/Villa and Fulham look nailed on for 4 of the places.

Derby look the most suspect to be hauled in by clubs beneath them. WE should be targeting to get above Derby - finish above them and we'll be in the play offs. Derby have a really tough March and April.

Pigs for me. We need all the help we can get to finish 6th.[/QUOTE]

Have to disagree. If you need help finishing in 6th, do you deserve to be there? Playing devils advocate here. If you want to go up, you gotta beat all comers, not get there by proxy.

Surely that's football though, you're always relying on other results unless you win every game which isn't realistic.

If Bristol City were playing someone else every Blade would want them to lose.

Doesn't reality tell us it will be a bit both!

But that's the thing isnt it. The pigs aren't playing just anyone else are they, they are playing the pigs.

I'm supporting Bristol City all day long on Saturday. With a Utd win also, then they don't gain on us and we see the pigs looking even more nervously over their shoulder.

There is no danger of Wendy overtaking us as they are 15 points behind us with 12 games to go. and we are two points behind 6th placed Bristol City

Those who want Bristol City to beat Wendy are the type that hate Wendy more than love the Blades

Those who wanted Wendy to Bristol City are the type that love the Blades more than hate Wendy

I am the latter

I tend to agree with a lot of what you post Silent but I totally disagree with your post above.

Of course I love Utd more than I despise the Pigs. If Utd lose I'm pissed off with football for the weekend irrespective of whatever the Pigs do (I still want them to lose though obviously). If we win though then all is right with the footballing world - pigs losing is just the big fat cherry on top of the cake.

I'm all for Blades and Bristol this weekend. We shouldn't be worried about what other teams are doing around and about us just yet in the season as there are too many games to go and too many variables and odd results and slip ups from teams expected to win games, to factor in yet before the season ends. With a quarter of the season still to go, I'm still in the Utd win Pigs lose mode. The only time I might start changing my mindset for wanting the pigs to not lose would be if we were 2 or 3 games from the season end and then and only then if it was clear that a Pigs win would massively help us. Then I would begrudgingly want our feathered flops to give us a hand.

But until that day arrives and until it is abundantly clear that a win for them will definitely help us, it's a fuk off pigs and c'mon whoever they are playing.

For the record I don't think Bristol will finish any where close to the play offs either and i think they will fall away. Even more reason in my mind why I want them to stuff the deluded.

Wanting Wednesday to win is the definition of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

That just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny though.

Of course, if you win all your games then it makes no difference what the others do. But in the history of football, no one ever won all their games.

League position is entirely a reflection of relative performance. What your rivals do always matters.

Bristol aren't a football team, they play Rugby. Or are we happy if we're called Sheffield? Double standards.

Regarding the game, got to be a win for the pigs especially as Im from Bristol and Bristol Rovers are my second team.

Great win for the blades in the week!!

I know in our situation it matters what others do result wise in order for us to finish in the top 6. Man City have just been doing on their own this season currently watching them rip arsenal apart!!. A pig win unfortunately is my choice as it would help us!!. UTB

I'm amazed that people think that a team above us losing is us being "helped" and that we should do it only by winning our own games. Don't people know how league tables work?

Wanting Wednesday to win is the definition of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

It’s not though really, it’s more like Wednesday are a complete irrelevance to us now for the rest of this season so I couldn’t give a shit what they do. Whereas Bristol City aren’t irrelevant to us, they are a rival to the play-offs, hence we should want them to lose.

Pigs to win for me. I want the pigs to win every fixture against our playoff rivals but lose every other fixture.

If Wendy winning benefits us and ultimately helps gets us promoted then thank you very much Sheff Wendy Pigs :)

In reality? I think Brizzle will batter them :(
