That's not fact or even rumour, just you slagging united for no reason.
Radio Sheffield might only have a bit of info and not really know a thing.
Anything could/can be happening behind the scene's none of us know.

For all we know Howard could be F'king United about, but we don't know that or anything else so no point in guessing till facts come out.

Sure people have said he is having a medical tomorrow though.

Who knows

That is fact our kid, it must be a long medical.

Somebody is certainly F'kin about, it goes on the O/S then it's taken off !!!! Very strange.

We have probably waited until the "end" of September as the 3 month loan period takes us nicely "over" the Christmas period. If the deal is completed today, then he can play against Charlton on 28th December and doesn't miss a game, as we can then sign him permanently on Jan 1st.

Taken from BU.

Maybe thats why?

Blades fend off rival bid to land Howard

Brian Howard
SHEFFIELD United beat off competition from two unnamed Championship clubs to sign Barnsley midfielder Brian Howard on loan.
As thestar.co.uk predicted on Saturday, United manager Kevin Blackwell confirmed Howard's capture after holding talks with the player and his representatives following the 2-1 victory over Watford.

Howard, who is expected to complete a full £500,000 transfer in January, could make his United debut at Doncaster Rovers this evening.

But Blackwell's assistant, Sam Ellis, revealed that Bramall Lane was not the only destination open to the 25-year-old.

"There were a couple of others interested in him," Ellis said.

Howard's decision will be a major source of encouragement to Blackwell as he applies the finishing touches to his squad.

Quinton Fortune and Kiki Musampa have joined fellow trialists Seb Carole and Ian Harte at Shirecliffe with Hossam Ghaly's agent claiming Tottenham's Egypt international is another potential target.

Blackwell, reporting no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to The Keepmoat Stadium, said: "We need creativity from midfield and Brian will give us that.

"Brian brings goals. Every team needs extra firepower

Keith Gillespie has been selected for Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and San Marino despite being told he is free to leave United. David Cotterill has been named in the Wales squad which meets Liechtenstein and Germany.

good find but still doesn't really tell us what's happening

Sounds to me like Barnsley have decided to play us off against whoever came in last night!

The Club have made themselves look rather foolish here, I fear. Putting the news up on the OS was stupid if the deal wasn't final, and to be honest they should have learned after the dropped bollocks with previous apparent loan signings.

The more the club 'cry wolf', the less people are going to be inclined to believe them.

hi again guys, i've heard that howard failed to sign for you and is now about to sign for us  as mentioned earlier by a few of you. We seem to have had the rub of the green in terms of transfers this season in terms of signing players like carsley and phillips who were wanted by Derby. Quincey was wanted by a few prem teams and now howard seems to have decided to move to us instead, i don't know how much truth is involved is this story. I guess it'll all become clear in a few days, eh?

on football heaven someone just said he was at the hilton today and saw Howard walking out with a united training shirt under his arm

Blackie says live "he is not a united player" WTF is going off ?????

Skysports says he is aswell.. :S

turns out he is not- stupid press room

I was listening to Radio Sheffield at that point, and just thought it was a wind up as they 'broke the news' of Lee Richardson being sacked moments beforehand, after a couple of Spireites had called up feeling rather pissed off ......

Whatever happens, it did make me giggle!

Howard still hoping to complete Blades move
Published Date: 01 October 2008
By James Shield

BRIAN Howard has reiterated his desire to join Sheffield United after Barnsley dramatically blocked his switch to Bramall Lane.
Kevin Blackwell's side had hoped to unveil the midfielder as their latest new signing before last night's win at Doncaster Rovers only for their South Yorkshire neighbours to prevent Howard from completing his move.

The delay, which could be resolved later today, is believed to have been caused by attempts to re-negotiate clauses in the £500,000 transfer and allowed Charlton Athletic to submit what officials at Oakwell described as "an acceptable offer."

But with Howard, who passed a medical at United before Blackwell's players travelled to Doncaster, insisting that his heart remains set on United, Barnsley's hardline stance threatens to sour their relationship with the 25-year-old, not to mention his prospective new employers.

Although United refused to respond publicly to a tersely worded Barnsley statement, sources close to the promotion hopefuls insist they are still confident Howard will arrive on loan in time for Saturday's visit of Bristol City before completing a permanent move in January.

"I haven't got a clue," Blackwell said, responding to questions about when the deal might be finalised. "I can't say anything. It was agreed though. It was agreed."

Howard, who rose to prominence when he scored the winning against Liverpool during last season's FA Cup tie at Anfield, has refused to sign a new contract at Oakwell as he attempts to realise his dream of appearing regularly in the Premier League; an ambition he clearly believes he has more chance of fulfilling at United.

Blackwell's charges climbed to sixth place courtesy of Gareth Roberts' own goal and Stephen Quinn.

But their progress came at a price with Greg Halford (shin) and James Beattie (dead leg) sustaining injuries.

"Greg's got eight stitches," Blackwell said. "But that showed his commitment."

Meanwhile, West Ham, who last week lost their legal battle with United over the Carlos Tevez Affair, could face another claim for damages from Fulham and Wigan, a leading lawyer has confirmed.

Andrew Quirk, from the Stevens and Bolton LLP law firm, said: "The ruling opens the way to claims from clubs who finished within three points of West Ham."
