Brewster New Contract (if offered one) should be something like this

Basic £8k a week

The rest performance related including goals scored

Put £20m price tag on him so he either knuckles down and plays like he has in recent weeks or gets just 8k

Hmmm, wonder if Rhian could get a better deal than £8K PW elsewhere?

Has anyone thought the lad might not want to stay. Been a nightmare period for him and he is a southerner so might want to return home

One single intelligent piece of football on Satdi, playing the pass to JRS and not hammering the ball wildly in the general direction of the space between the corner flags, played about 10 minutes from a possible million, and that warrants talk of a new contract 🤷‍♂️

Why can’t he just fuck off and get sent off/injured somewhere else.

Cause he "might " do well down the long, long road. Thus contract for 12 years it is. Don't think new owners will be as generous as the Prince was to him. Luckily he is popular among the players, there is a player in there somewhere so the conversation is warranted more than the contract offer

Lets agree to disagree on that one.

If he gets a new contract and fucks up I’ll rip the piss out of you, if he does well, you rip the piss out of me, but i really hope he dosen't get one.

This is the first time he's had a run of games in a long time and he's NOT looked out of place in this team.

He's had goal involvement in quite a few matches now along with being one of the best players in some.

If we ignore the baggage of his history I think we'd all be happy to offer a (much smaller) contract extension to him?

Three hamstring issues while Brewster has been with us suggests that he's either very unlucky or quite fragile.
He has the rest of the season to prove both his fitness and ability.
This to determine if he's worth giving a new contract and on what salary... either by us or by any other club.

Brewster did more in 20 minutes on Saturday than most of his United career, if his shot was an inch or two lower it would have capped off a very good performance that has been a long time coming. That slightly deeper role did seem to suit him.

Hard to see around it for many, quite understandably, but if you took away the price tag, and the years of under performing, and just viewed Brewster based on his performances this season, you might think he was worth a punt on keeping around. In the same way you might think McCallum would be a handy player off the bench for another season.

If he stays fit until the end of the season and continues putting in good performances like Saturday, why would we not offer him a new deal? As already mentioned above, if it was another player in this situation, and they were performing at an equal level as Brewster has been then nobody would bat an eyelid.

Obviously taking everything in to account over the length of his time here, (injury record mainly) he's not going to be able to command the same wages and it is still a risk, but a 12 month extension on reduced terms or based on appearances, would be reasonable IMO.

He definitely seems to like being here and I'd hope - should the next few months be a success - if he were to receive other offers he'd show some loyalty. I think many on here would be surprised how many offers he would get from Championship clubs, he's still young and it won't be forgotten how highly rated he was.

Would you say that to his face or just hide behind your keyboard?

We might go up? You're not giving him a contract in the Premier League. Surely?

I really like Brewster and despite all the crap he's had a great attitude and seems a well liked member of the squad.

If we go up - its thanks for your efforts this season and goodbye.

If we don't go up - maybe worth a year but I think he could probably get a couple of years elsewhere, on more or similar money to what we would likely offer, where he'd likely have more chances of starting (Preston/Bristol/Swansea etc).

I'm glad he's showing up as a decent member of the squad and contributing this season finally - but anything more than a year would be crazy considering his injury record

Where’s this £8k plucked from? How does that compare to others in the squad?

Presume the goals scored performance related means he’ll have to play up front rather than on the wing, in midfield or generally where he’s asked to play? Will it be reliant on starting games or just from the bench?

He will likely leave and if I was him I'd go to back to Swansea. Less pressure there and he can focus on staying fit.

£8k a week? he may have had a shit time with injuries but I reckon he will at least get 15k to 20k a week with someone else in the Championship.

He lives in Wilmslow and more than likely will end up at Wrexham, possibly Stockport, if we release him & they get promoted.

He’s been through a lot and so have we!
I’d probably offer him a new contract…but can see why it might be best to part ways.
