He’s only 20. When he gets bigger and stronger, a lot of people on here are going to look silly I reckon.

Criticising his performances this season, the wisdom of signing someone unproven and young, are perfectly legitimate.

But Liverpool don’t put buy back clauses in sales of players who are rubbish.

Agreed but a big man who’s great in the air and with his feet are like hens teeth everyone is looking for them and very few find them.

You need to give him a run of games. Like any striker. Can't just play him here and there and expect miracles. But it's been the story of the Prem under Wilder, we haven't had one settled partnership upfront.

He was handled badly when he joined. Young lad, only been at one club and played half a season on loan at a lower level with a new set of players, manager, formation and system. He was chucked in almost straight away and you could see he hadn't really got a clue what he was doing. I said at the time he should have been slowly introduced but we've completely shot his confidence now.

As ridiculous as it sounds McBurnie, Mousett and McGoldrick rarely strike the ball cleanly when shooting, in fact, for something you’d imagine was pretty essential for a footballer, I’d say only Billy consistently strikes the ball cleanly out of all of our strikers.

I think Wilder has taken him out of the firing line, which is a strange thing because he's not got 30,000 frustrated fans watching him in the stands moaning and groaning. As a striker you need game time to build your confidence, this could be doing the opposite.

He will feel like if he doesnt score he wont start and thats such a hard position to be in as a striker because he's snatching at chances

I think Brewster is still a boy playing a mans game in some respects but that can change very quickly but his record in junior football and his technical ability speaks for itself. If he doesn’t succeed at the senior level it won’t be for lack of ability. I too would like him to play but I’m not dealing with him day to day and so can’t say where he’s at mentally or what’s best for him.
In terms of McBurnie I think he will surprise a few if we go back to playing it on the deck with confidence. He just looks incredibly unorthodox because of his running style a bit like Basham. Maybe McBurnie’s ceiling will be a player that’s too good for the champ but not good enough for the prem there’s been plenty of strikers for who that’s been true. However that kind of striker is still in red valuable/useful for a club of our stature and where we’ll likely be for the next 4-5 years.

We literally can't afford to spend 24m on a player and think he'll be alright in a few years time. Were not an established PL club and needed a striker or 2 to come in and do the business now. (Obviously dire midfield hasn't helped) Still think a Deeney or Pukki wouldn't have been the worst signings, least they'll be fit and play games unlike some of our strikers...

Hes taken Brewster out of the firing line for his own good he doesnt really look like scoring at the moment and his confidence is low, hes only a young kid, save him for next season Im sure he will come good but I dont see a Brewster / McBurnie partnership up front working

I agree with that too. Berge was a disaster for the same reason. We needed experienced pros who could make a difference right now and we could have sacrificed potential and skill for that.

At least Brewster will stick around though

Im just glad we signed him on a 5 year deal and not a 3 year, otherwise we could have ended up losing him for nowt.. altho i guess thats still a possibility

I don't think he will. His attitude is all wrong. It was clear the day he signed by his fed up expression that he didn't want to come here and saw it as a step down and since then we've seen zero effort. Bad attitude. He's just collecitng his paycheck and putting zero effort in.

Liverpool have no intention of buying him back. They put the buy back clause in to get him to sign as he never wanted to leave.
