Brewster; I don't want to be unkind but...

It's just peculiar, the way (i assume adults?) get some sort of vindictive pleasure in slagging off Brewster each week.

He was playing out of position and was fine/average/ok, not brilliant nor atrocious. Much like others in the team today.

Scored 3 away from home, picked up 3 points, have a beer and enjoy your weekends 👍

I thought in the first 10 mins he looked like he was set up to have a decent game. Won a few tackles made a few passes and looked quite lively.

he then just disappeared.

when he makes a pass he just stands still. What happened to pass and move.

I don’t think he was any worse than the others though. We won in second gear and got 6’s across the board imo. 3 points and move on.

And he at 12 o clock wasn't expecting to start and before he knew he berges out and he's playing attacking midfield

He wasn't too bad today but his decision making was really poor still. Blew 3 really good attacking positions by just launching speculative shots from long distance

Thought he looked up for it first half, but very quiet second half. Didn't do anything particularly egregious though, apart from that "shot" into row Z.

Is he a striker or does he want to be a midfielder, that's my issue. He's too deep and wide if he wants to be a striker.

It's good to see him tracking back, made a good tackle in our box first half, but I'd rather him be playing more central up top and trying to get the "no league goals" monkey off his back.

sorry but he's got no idea
all this about potential is humbug
Liverpool had our pants off, not just down
and hopefully it's not too much longer and Slav realises like he's done with Burke
he looks like a little boy playing with the big lads
the lad we let go to Hull showed more in 10 mins he was on pitch than Brewster in 90 mins
and what's that all about swopping his shirt at end of game ?

Just on the issue of position, most teams set up like this today. Strikers regularly play as wide forwards or in deeper roles. If he is going to have any sort of career, this can't be considered out of position. Plus he quite clearly seems to prefer looking for space deep, so he can have a clean strike at goal, rather than attack the box. We can speculate on his talent, but I just feel he is a very immature footballer, which is more the issue than starting position.

Today he was definitely played as one of the 3 behind billy apart from a small spell at the end maybe 5 minutes and then he swapped with mcburnie and went back into the 3.

I can’t believe some of the semi positive comments on here...he is absolute rubbish and will eventually rank as once of the most expensive flops ever. The best thing United could do is farm him out on loan to a League one side and hope he improves,

I feel sorry for Brewster in that he'll always have the expectation of his price tag hanging over him.

But I have to concur with the criticism. He doesn't look anywhere near the standard we paid for and need. I do wonder if a loan to a L1 club would be beneficial for him to get some experience and hopefully a bit of confidence.

PS. He was 7/10 today.

I don't see the issue with Brewster today, he is a striker asked at short notice to plat attacking right midfield so yeah he will have to track back at times. I thought the lad did OK to say that isn't his natural position.

And what good does being constantly negative do? We can all see that he's not scoring for us, and he's not worth anything basically (what we could get would be far too little), and nobody will take on anywhere near his wages on a loan, so all we can do is not pile in on him and hope that he gets the Swansea form back someday soon.

Ffs come on he played well today did the job asked of him all the idiots slagging him off give your head a wobble confidence comes with playing games mark my words the boy will come good

Once he stops shooting straight at the keeper every time, we might start seeing goals from him.

This. ^

I have seen him a few times, this and last season when he winds his foot up to unleash a shot and it is straight down the gob of the keeper. You have 192 square feet of goal to aim at, the centre two thirds covered by the keeper That gives you 32 square feet each side into which a shot has a better than even chance of beating him. That is a lot of area to aim at.

The problem with Brewster is the price tag. The fact we’ve spent so much on him means we expect him to score 20+ goals.

But he just doesn’t look like that player. He’s not a bad player he just isn’t a £20m player.

It's not like they're not powerful either, he does well to get pace on them but when they're straight at the keeper he might as well scuff a bobbler towards goal.

Slav needs to get him aiming for the corners.

I thought Brewster was poor again today.
How long are we supposed to wait for him to come good. I wanted Ndiay to come on and replace him for the last 20 mins.

Until his contract runs out or we sell him. What else should we do until either of those happens apart from hope he scores some goals?

I'm glad Ndiaye got a rest because Hull are dirty bastards and would have clattered him.

Brewster was poor, his striking of the ball is poor, hid decision making is poor and his attacking positional sense is poor. That was evident to see. Everyone saying "he did ok" are only saying that because we won. If we lost it would have been a different story.

He’s simply not good enuff I am willing him to show something and bang a goal in but I think we could do much better

He should aim for the corners more.

His shots on target always go straight down the keeper's throat.
