Decent against Swindon and excellent last night. Working with JCR first half must have been frustrating. He was always looking for the overlap which is a reasonable approach as JCR can hold a left back up with his moves but the decision making from JCR was horrendous. Just one of those days maybe but from what I see he's hot and cold all the time our Jamal.

JCR needs to get up to speed with Brayfords moves because when Flynns back he will struggle for a starting place.

Brayford is a class above this League that must surely be clear to anyone who knows the first thing about football.

If we had players of his quality in every position we would be 10 points clear at the top. If we had had just a couple of players of his quality up front and in midfield all season we would still be in and around the auto places.

Entirely agree. I can't think of a better recipe for promotion from League One than having players in your team who are clearly Championship class. Brayford is Championship class. One down, ten to go...

In fairness, Murphy clearly comes into the same category.

Agreed

We could well be adding Done and Coutts to that list as well.
Don;t think the team has had time to sort it's self out yet since the new additions, but once we start to roll we could well be crushing the opposition..:)

Brayford won the free kick we scored the first from - after a mix-up with Jam. Retrieved a ball he didn't have much right to get to. Overlaps added a dimension, if they can get a partnership going it could be productive; for the moment though it's a work in progress.

The way Brayford and Flynn achieved that understanding last season could well be a cock bird here. Flynn on the wing and dropping back to defend when Brayford goes forward...

I don't reckon much to Coutts at all, yet. His passing last night was terrible. I can barely recall him finding one of our players. He did win a couple of tackles again after losing possession, but if his passing was better he wouldn't have needed to.

It just goes to show.......

I agree about Brayfird. Decent but not spectacular.

I still don't get Baxter despite his brace. He made a number if quality balls last night, but for me his rate just isn't there. Not because he can't be arsed, more because he will never be able.

TBH...... I've seen faster things crawl out of cheese

I'm glad it's not just me who noticed that

MBoreman so what's your assessment? I haven't seen him yet since his return so I'm genuinely interested in the different views
Average first two, good last night but not MOTM for me, all had good moments. I like the guy and obviously he's good, just think everyone gets too caught up in the whole thing around him. He's probably worth £1.5 million but I'd question whether he's worth that to us. I guess as long as it doesn't compromise other signings it's not a problem.

It appears MBoreman is talking out of his arse !
Brayford showed more quality last night than any other player on the field - Done had a good debut apart from the offsides and Coutts looks a player !
I'm with Sitters on this one !
Haha I rate him, obviously, just think everyone gets caught up in the hype and begins to overrate him a bit. I'd rather have him than not, but I'd have kept Harry or Coady instead.

You don't get me swearing very often, but fuck me!!

Leave brayford alone please, he's one of the few players we need to just leave and let them get on with things, he's a legend in the making, and I've lost count of the people I talk to who say.. "you dont get footballers like you used to you know, all about the money nowadays, no pride" well we have a couple at the lane and jb being a standout of those, playing for a team they love.... so back off...

Reed needs protecting from any bad comments, so does che' they're really young and take this from me, they get wind of bad publicity, it affects their mums n dads worse than them and it only serves in the negative regarding their confidence..

Back onto brayford, brayford is following flynn, who was flying in that role, so he might not seem the revelation he was last time.... errr, how many games? Is it three....??

Baxter is one of the only midfielders capable of playing a decent ball into the strikers, so why the criticism, he gets two, he's not even a striker..ffs... you'll see how good baxter is should we go up a level where we need a ball player..

And was it two wins in three when brayfords played?? Correct me if I have missed owt, in a nice way though... :)

Chill out....

Signed a legend and some arn't happy...

Ps, mentioned the young lads because when they're not overjoyed with brayfords early form on his return, its only a matter of time before they turn on our young ones....

EXACTLY what he said. EXACTLY.

Probably explains why Jamal is a journeyman in this league.

I think far more noticed that he had a good game and is getting better all the time. Coutts is going to be a key player for us, and in central midfield, not stuck out on the right.
I hope he will be a key player and not one of Cloughs favourites.

Totally agree, I would have been fed up if I were Brayford in the first half, he kept running the full length of the pitch to overlap JCR and every time he cut into the box and never utilised Brayford.

Most of us have been wanting him back since last season. We get him back and some of us already want to criticise him after 3 games. Even though we won two of the three games.

It's a totally different game for JCR now Brayfords here what a nightmare for the opposing left back/midfield if they get it together

Actually I'm really rather disappointed..

Since he joined us there have been no tweeted updated photos of his missus.

I really expected there to be a flurry of photos on there, just enough to keep us going over the cold months and until the next eagerly awaited holiday shots appear...

Come on John Brayford we deserve to be updated... We are your friends...

I sat behind her and his parents on Tuesday night........how was the game? Hard to concentrate..........

I think JCR flatters to deceive, he always has to turn and try to beat his man, a couple of times on Tuesday JB was there and he could have laid the ball off, but he felt he had to beat his man and lost the ball. I don't think his delivery is the best unless he's having 'one game in ten' where he's brilliant.

Flynn will be better there as he can cover if JB goes on a run and my memory is they had a good understanding of each other last season. With Coutts playing inside also suits him better from what I read from Derby fans.

JB has an extra dimension that noone has mentioned. he has enormous charisma.. he is a talisman. when he is on the pitch, the fans (for whatever reason.. can't just be the beard) believe that we can win no matter who the opposition.. some people are just like that. you'd follow them anywhere
did i mention he's a really good player. i love the way he attacks space

How does a player become one of "Clough's favourites"?

Yes, good point young Pinchers....exactly how does a player become a manager's favourite? Unless of course they can deliver a quality of performance consistently? Or maybe it's a bit Kenneth Williams, where camp managers catch the eye of a butch centre-half, and together they share nods and winks that communicate those favourite needs that only a manager's favourite can understand.......tosh of course, what we have in Brayford is a player I never realistically thought we'd see again in the red and white stripes, a player of genuine class and quality, who somehow has discovered an attachment to a club he feels is where he belongs. I'm still a little bemused that we've actually managed to sign JB, the Beard, BRAYFORD!

With the new TV deal announced by Sky and BT, the signing of Brayford will prove to be a work of footballing and financial genius, and a snip when compared to the income to be earnt as we climb through the divisions. Signing Brayford wouldn't have happened without Clough at the helm, so let time be the judge, not simply a few games into his return, where he's having to adjust quickly. Having Coutts in the team will offer a familiar outlet and support, so, many reasons to be optimistic and cheerful, even if there are those who wouldn't be happy unless they're miserable.
