Always been the way with some. More important to be right than to actually understand we all want the same thing. Let's be honest we have all got it wrong over the years and will continue to do so. I thought Adkins was a good appointment at the time, shows what I know. The only people not getting it wrong are those with nothing to say.

Come on, it definitely works both ways. Over the years the more... erm... pessimistic among us have been very quick to add misery to those already depressed when the Blades have failed. In fact, much of the time I feel the reason for being pessimistic is some sort of perverse protection against disappointment when it has invariably gone tits up.

It's hardly surprising that the optimists want to rub their joy in the faces of fellow supporters who have done the adverse for years.

Ps. Pomps is clearly FUMING

How predictable that one of the happy clapping bunch would resurrect an old thread to score points as soon has we have some success. What you happy clappers forget though is you have consistently got it wrong since the day we dropped out of the premier league ten years ago. Oh well you know what they say even a broken clock is right twice a day, I just find it a bit sad really when we should all be celebrating that some feel they have to take cheap shots at other posters.
You condemn taking "cheap shots at other posters" and use the term "happy clappers" twice in the same post.

Indeed he was right but the way he went about it also perhaps led to some of the hostility.

He started out very pro Adkins initially, saying he should get another season if we didn't get promotion. Then by the time the season started he'd changed his stance completely, mainly due to the "assessing what we have" business and not bringing a centre half in. While many of us were saying give the bloke a chance, season's hardly started, we've sacked too many managers etc etc, he was boycotting games.

So yes, he was right as it turned out, it was the way he went about it that caused him to get stick.

No there were several who knew we had been dealt a sucker punch by that clown's appointment.

Adkins appointment was met with universal approval. He was rubbish with United but he's certainly no clown, as evidenced by his four promotions.

The only man who never made a mistake is the man who never did or said anything. Always easy to be right in hindsight but Barney was the only one I remember who called it early. His manner and method may have been questionable but he was at least consistent from an early point. But that is all history now in any case. Football makes idiots out of anyone who proffers an opinion and long may it continue.

To go back to topic I find it odd the level of toxic comment towards a bloke who when he first arrived was awesome. If he happens to refind that level of performance I will be thankful because it will improve us as a unit.

I find that odd as well, never really regained that form of the loan period but it didn't seem to be for the want of trying. I wish him well but not sure we'll see him in a Blades shirt again.

interview with Clough reg. Brayford :
"We made an enquiry for John Brayford that didn't go anywhere, so we're probably going to get a right-back in."

Asked whether that meant a move for Brayford was probably off the cards for now, he said: "As far as we are concerned, yes."

I think that is the great frustration for me (and also perhaps for him) that there is a very good player in there, we have seen that in his loan spell. As you rightly say, football makes idiots out of us and I'd have gone out and signed him too.

A great shame how things have panned out, I wish him well.

Good luck to the.... - waaaaait a second, wat?!

I cant understand the vitriol towards Brayford tbh?

When he was on loan he was our 'talisman' and people were demanding he be signed permanently no matter what the cost.

So Jim Phipps signed him.

He was desperate to join us and we wanted him as well.

He has had if my memory serves me rightly 2 bad injuries since rejoining. Things haven't worked out for him here since he rejoined but it isn't all his fault is it?

If CW doesnt see him as part of his plans then so be it. Let us part ways and try & resolve it quickly. No need for some of the comments ive seen here.

I specifically many saying "there's no way we"ll sign him because we're not ambitious enough"
Some even said "sign Brayford and we're gauranteed promotion"
It was a massive sign of ambition to pay 1.5 million on a right back hence why fans of other
League 1 clubs referred to us as the Man City of league 1 trying to buy our way out of the league.

Bradford was our biggest cult hero in years.
I've said before people talk about player loyalty but there's often even less fan loyalty towards players.
Brayford is yesterday's hero but it seems now he's a no body or even a villain in some eyes.

I hope he re surrects his career. Good luck.

Also... Notice how no-one calls him 'The Beard' anymore?

And yet he didn't play him at right back last season.

It was a ridiculous signing. I said so at the time and was labelled 'a pig' for my troubles. To spend that kind of money on a right back was folly.

If I remember rightly, he took a major pay-cut to drop down a league and come and play for us. He could have had first team football in the Championship but chose instead to come here. Unless stuff has gone on behind the scenes, I'm not sure why he's being vilified.

I'm worried that this protracted affair is indirectly harming our other transfer activity. Like we're waiting for him to leave and free up wages/bring in funds.

Personally, I'd let him go on a free if it means he goes. He's never going to play for us again and on a hefty wage.

I can't understand the hatred towards the man either. He's had the injuries bt has always put in 100% for us. He 'loved' the blades (i imagine he doesn't anymore).

Last season we had Coutts and Freeman on the list, but, they were in and around the first team for pre-season and training etc. This guy has been frozen out. For me this is the ONLY questionable thing that CW has done since joining the Blades.

Why isn't he being given the chance to remove himself from the list? Something doesn't sit right.
