On the channel I watched today's game, Brandon Williams and Lingard were both mentioned as possible incomings.

Would make sense we’re weak on the left I’d like both but that’s not possible

Would be good but it's not possible and is it worth now it after todays result with how much those 2 will be on/percentage UTD would have to pay of wages

Seems a waste of time and money. We should look for up and coming targets that can possibly be a part of our long term future.

There are also a number of players that have proved they are not going to take us further, and so we should be listening to any offers.

I'd happily use this window to strengthen us in the long term, even if it didn't help at all in terms of saving this season.

Neither strike me as having the right mentality for where we're at. I don't think more young, vastly overpaid players is the answer right now.

Are there any experienced older heads who aren't getting games at their clubs? I'm thinking in the mould of (but not specifically before everyone gets excited) Wes Morgan. Just players with a number of seasons under their belt at this level who are willing to come on loan to get a load of games and who can roll up their sleeves and have a go.

I'm not sure about the ' it's not worth it now' / 'build for the future' stuff.
Logically it is right.
But I'm thinking about the psychology of going down as a bunch of defeated men.
Is it better to bring in short term players who will make sure we at least go down with a fight? Better for morale next season.
Also, the new, build for a promotion players can be brought in later, who haven't had the relegation pain.

Fucking Wes Morgan heard it all now 🤣

I take the point about looking to the future because we are relegated but I’d really rather not break Derby’s record and signing here and now loan players is our only hope. If Ampadu leaves can we sign another domestic loan? If that’s a possibility I’d be looking to sign Lingard, Snodgrass and that Omar Colley all on loan and go down with the tiniest bit of dignity knowing we didn’t break that record.

If ampadu leaves it does open up another domestic loan slot yes but would probably damage our relationship with Chelsea for a while. However I believe we should bite the bullet because he’s not right for us right now.

We could always go and get a new coach who can get a tune out of the highly rated players we already have.

Lingard is 28 and played for England in a World Cup semi-final.

That is because on today’s showing Bogle is as bad as Lowe
Not like me to be critical of Wilder, but they bring nothing to the table
Lowe not required as he prefers Osborn as LWB cover and the money for both should have been spent on a creative midfield player

Bogle as bad as Lowe on today's showing? We can't have watched the same game...

No point signing Prem loans at all. Waste of time. I would look for Lg 1/Lg 2 up and coming now. The time to sign Prem loans has been and gone.

We will be in the Champ next year so we need to find players who may be prospects and part of our future. Players who can improve and will be with us for a few years not players who will be here for a quick buck and out for themselves.

Great idea in principle but if "There are also a number of players that have proved they are not going to take us further, and so we should be listening to any offers.", we'll have to replace about 2/3rds of the team.

Which we need to do to be fair

I'd like to think as well as thinking about who may come in Wilder may take feelers on the likes of Fleck, Stevens, Mousset, Norwood. Maybe some daft twats might give us some money for one of them. I am not sure any of the 4 will be in the line up next year so be good if we could move a few on. Not sure who's sign them on Prem wages mind as Champ teams probably can't afford.

You’d be looking at poorly run champ clubs. Wednesday with fletcher and jones in recent years. Stokes signings before the new manager have also been shocking and on big money. Maybe forest might panic this January and they pay good money or a reading going shit or bust as they’ll be in financial trouble should they remain in the champ beyond this year.

It pains me to say I agree DB but part of me wants to disagree, without wanting to be accused of fence sitting.
I believe we need to buy a win if necessary if only to get the mentality back into not only players heads but supporters as well.
How do we do this? loan a couple of old heads to put some bite back? I dunno
Tell you what, let's leave it to the Boss
In Wilder I still trust UTB

I disagree. While ever it is mathematically possible the manager will be looking at loans to go straight in and improve the squad.

while most of us think now is the time to start a rebuild I just don’t think that’s in the mindset of the club just yet. Hence no permanent signings coming in.

For me Norwood, Fleck, Lundstram, Robinson all definitely need to be moved on. With big question marks over several others

These players will be good again in the Championship for a year or two but then what ?
They need to be replaced one by one over two to three years so that when we next go up the team, the academy and the whole infrastructure are better suited to surviving
