I asked Paul Garret about this, he confirmed that there were plans to purchase all the houses on john street and we do already own some of them. The conversation was 6 years ago so no idea if we have bought anymore
Most of the land on John Street is light industry. About 5 plots of industry and 5 terraced houses. It should make it simpler

They have plans to do so and have committed to it. Planning permission was rejected and still ongoing.

Think there’s complications for them due to the location and possibly also Trent Bridge cricket ground (why that away end is a weird shape).
Their dispute has always been the boat club, who pre-date the City ground. But I think they’ve sorted that problem now. So it’s all systems go on the main stand redevelopment.

Why would that be?

From the outside looking in, Forest haven't acted in any way to suggest they're scared of spending a few quid. They've heavily (if somewhat recklessly) invested in the squad and are working on obtaining planning permission for the new stand. The latter won't happen overnight and can be prone to many setbacks and unknowns. If anything, it is a lesson to be learnt for when we finally do it; especially as we will be dealing with SCC, who will no doubt get pissy about the height or something.

Am I missing something?
....the fact that it is years since the idea was first mentioned and several years since the current owner indicated it would happen. The original time scale would have had it finished for Forest’s first season back in the PL.
I am not saying it will not happen, but you can see why so many round here have become a little sceptical !

Really ? Don’t hold your breath as I don’t think the latest version has p.p.

All the bollox about needing to have a few years in the Prem before we consider spending on the ground…how do other clubs like Bristol City, Forest etc do it?

Waiting for the perfect time…it’ll never come.

The ground capacity is restricting our growth more and more, increasing it should be a priority. Bigger ground equals more money. Bigger ground increase heightened profile.

Heightened profile equals players wanting to play for us and interest from investors. Think like a second rate club and that’s what we become, that’s what we have become.

Invest in the ground and grow the club.
How do other clubs do it ?
They have wealthy owners who can invest in the ground without falling foul of FFP rules.
We don't have a wealthy owner.
You say "invest in the ground" , but with whose money ?
Sheer fantasy - we are skint and can't even recruit PL players.
We already have a substantial mortgage on the ground.
Ground expansion is at the bottom of a very long list of priorities for spending.
It's not happening until we are in a very much improved financial state.

Didn't know which thread to stick this in so putting it here.

A map of every football league club in Britain and NI. Excellent stuff.
