Is the capacity again reduced? It says 31,884 on the video.

Following the changes in 2007 it was just shy of 33k. I know this was reduced a few years ago, when we made some changes for our last stint in the PL, but thought it was reduced to around 32,200.

Where have the 1,000 seats gone?
Says 31.8k on Wikipedia for past year

The Lane & other assets already carry a mortgage which onerous to service if we drop back down.
The priority for the foreseeable future has to be player recruitment.
The current owner is unlikely to spend anything on the ground since he is trying to sell.
Even if we get a new owner , they will want to reinforce their investment by signing players to keep us in the Prem.
Ground expansion (or moving to a new stadium) is a pipe-dream until we have survived quite a few Prem seasons.
I would love to see a bigger & better Lane , but it's many years away.
The only realistic desire I have in relation to the ground is that we will have paid off the mortgage before we lose the Prem income.

All the bollox about needing to have a few years in the Prem before we consider spending on the ground…how do other clubs like Bristol City, Forest etc do it?

Waiting for the perfect time…it’ll never come.

The ground capacity is restricting our growth more and more, increasing it should be a priority. Bigger ground equals more money. Bigger ground increase heightened profile.

Heightened profile equals players wanting to play for us and interest from investors. Think like a second rate club and that’s what we become, that’s what we have become.

Invest in the ground and grow the club.

It’s just the Blades way I’m afraid.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you

But i remember a couple of ground investments such as the new South Stand back in 75/76 which started our decline to the 4th div - plus the family stand which hasn’t really altered our fortunes

The John Street wasn’t built big enough. The South wasn’t responsible for our demise, that was down to small time thinking from inept boards, and chairman.

It doesn’t really matter about the past anyway, in the here and now we have fans who can’t get season tickets and walk-ups restricted because of not being able to buy two seats together or restricted view.

We need a bigger ground.

Doesn't the "we need a bigger ground" call usually come after a couple of seasons of waiting lists for season tickets?

I'd love to see the development done which were shown few years ago.

But I do worry about it becoming a wasted project.

From a commercial angle we do the SS. But I think that increase it too big and too expensive.

New roof on kop. Under cover concourse. Add 3k to back and that's just about right.

Then look to do SS.

But nowt will happen as owner wants out.

And while I'm on it...redevelop that streetwise corner. Fuck me. Look how Charlton did there's. Ours must have been designed by a 5 yr old.

Best bit of it is the kids club underneath. 👌

Under Nigel Atkins I liked the seats behind the wall in there 🤣

Building on the John Street or Bramall Lane side is impossible. The only scope for expansion is the Cherry Street and Shoreham street sides
Bramall Lane could be extended over the road and and the traffic go underneath it through the tunnel it creates.

Not saying we'd need that section of the stadium extending, but almost anything can be built in a space where nobody lives

And/or do what Liverpool did (I think), buy up all the houses on John Street over time to create space there. Would be a rounding error on overall costs.

I asked Paul Garret about this, he confirmed that there were plans to purchase all the houses on john street and we do already own some of them. The conversation was 6 years ago so no idea if we have bought anymore

Build a new ground off the parkway, Everton building and they're skint too!

Forest have a rich owner but have not carried out any extensions on the ground recently.

They have plans to do so and have committed to it. Planning permission was rejected and still ongoing.

Think there’s complications for them due to the location and possibly also Trent Bridge cricket ground (why that away end is a weird shape).

Why have the commentary on video done by some bloke with a north eastern accent? Not sure if it’s Geordie, Middlesborough or what but what’s wrong with Sheffield accent?

I’m in my mid fifties and I don’t think I’ll ever see BDTBL extended again. All my adult life we’ve been blaming our perennial empty pockets on the development of the South Stand and unfortunately it took 2 football disasters to render the old John street stand unfit for purpose. But even though our crowds have been excellent at championship level. Our inability to attract inward investment and ultimately stay in the top flight for any period of time will always make ground development a non starter.

Sean Beans probably the only person from Sheffield that has managed to pull off a Sheffield accent to the outside world, and only then after its been dialled down several notches

It is several years since the idea was put forward and Forest have changed the plans at least twice, thus requiring an amended p.p.
There are other problems relating to the rowing club next door and a major river very close by, as well as traffic control on match days.
I doubt we will see anything happen this season.

Yeah, so it's not as if they don't have an appetite for it.

Many in Nottingham would not agree with you on that point !
Why would that be?

From the outside looking in, Forest haven't acted in any way to suggest they're scared of spending a few quid. They've heavily (if somewhat recklessly) invested in the squad and are working on obtaining planning permission for the new stand. The latter won't happen overnight and can be prone to many setbacks and unknowns. If anything, it is a lesson to be learnt for when we finally do it; especially as we will be dealing with SCC, who will no doubt get pissy about the height or something.

Am I missing something?
