Bramall lane myth

Constantly hear from pundits how we more than other clubs missed our fans during covid and how raucous bramall lane is.I personally think it’s exaggerated so much and it’s just an assumed tag due to our working class fan base and a decent belt out of GCB before kick off.

Most games I have been to in recent years have been average at best bar Man Utd and West Ham.This season has been even worse.Literally just a handful of people at the top corner of the kop chanting.Cant complain too much as I sit on the south and don’t chant myself. But I’m just puzzled by the amazing bramall lane atmosphere tag.
Covid rules,do not propel your breath, its dangerous.

Thought this for the Birmingham match, first match back in 18 odd months for most fans, new manager, new league new season. The build up to kick off seemed good but after that it just seemed to be the away fans making noise.
That wasn't surprising on the day as we were crap.
Give the fans something to cheer and Bramall lane can be a cauldron of noise.

Too many precious little things just want to go to a match and sit on their hands for 90 minutes now. You've only got to take this forum as an example. If you're too rowdy and singing intimidating songs to the opposition fans, you're classed as being 'full of charlie'. 'Charlie' is the new racism for passionate fans who aren't being racist.
Precious little things?

Everyone enjoys the game in their own way fella. Your way is right for you, their way is right for them. Certainly not for you to dictate how it should be.

It's always been a bit hit and miss and I think the times when the atmosphere is electric stick in the memory more. I can remember the guy stood next to me on the Kop in 1984 complaining that we were being outsung by Burnley. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Indeed and I wasn't aware that I was dictating how it should be. You seem to have triggered yourself to see something that isn't there.

Maybe you should look at the many posts on this forum berating people who dare to stand up and sing in support of their team. Like I said, 'Coke-Heads' is an all too often used slur to describe such supporters. Not saying some aren't but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I used to love to sit in G block and years before that, stand in the West Terrace. Singing my heart out and baiting the away fans was part and parcel of the match day experience. I've never touched the white stuff and the majority of games I never even went for a beer beforehand or during. I'm quite happy for fans to sit quietly at games, whatever floats their boat, but it's getting all too common for those fans to complain about the others who actually want to get behind their team and who, sadly, seem to be on the decline at The Lane these days.

It's been like that since I can remember, unless the ref makes a poor decision and it gets fiery, Bramall lane is about 200 people singing thats it.

Often its not solely about singing. If the referee is giving loads of free kicks to them for example.

Said this before I'll say it again;

If we have such a positive impact on our matches we should be being paid to attend them.

I think we all watched us getting tonked every week on the box and it’s had a long term impact. I still feel it now before the match starts (the dread) …. It was a long old period from lockdown 1 until the start of this season.

usually a result like Peterborough would be enough to raise the levels but I think the hurt runs deep and it will take a few more games before the faithful start to re-emerge and make some noise.

needs to start with Derby - who I think will be a decent challenge for us despite the off field situation.

But I think it will take a big performance and good result away at a genuine contender (Bournemouth) to tip the scales.

Last season was utter shit of course but I'm not convinced that having fans in would have changed that, the team just wasn't good enough. But when we started playing again after we first went into lockdown I'm sure the average points return per game with no fans in the ground was actually better than it had been before that. Nobody complained about there being no atmosphere when twatting Chelsea and Spurs and beating Wolves did they

Surely they can only call it as they see it. Personally think the match day experience including passionate and vocal crowd is brilliant.

Numbers-wise we are the best supported team in the Championship, which after the utter shite of the previous 12 months is impressive.
I wasn’t questioning our numbers.They are brilliant.

Need a singing section. Anyone got any ideas?
Was in John Street stand last night and heard 4 renditions of " Sit Darn". That was the only chant all neyt.
Could be the start of a singing section.

I read that in Brian Blessed’s voice which was fun, I enjoyed that.

You can read my posts in Gimli’s voice if you like...

but quieter when you arent up to expectation

I would wager that if all the “coke heads “were tested,95% would be positive
Seriously
