Looks like he is more likely to be off to Swindon on a sixth month loan

BWP didnt go anywhere so he is either staying in London to fight for his place at the Valley or he may go out on loan - once the loan window opens agai - is that in a weeks time or so?

BWP has signed for Brentford til the end of the season.

Obviously wanted to stay in London.

Either that or he felt that going to Brentford was his best chance of getting into starting XI.

Hmm... Are Brentford exceeding their FFP limits I wonder.

As long as we stay within the rules that is all i care about.

If the league are serious about the rules they will punish Brentford, Swindon etc accordingly.

Becuse relying on the authorities to punish wrondoers worked out well for us in the past...

Brentford banked a fair amount of money by taking Chelsea to a replay in the FA Cup, especially given that both games were televised. Their Chief Executive has been quoted giving a £700k figure which would easily cover the wages and fee for a 3 month loan of Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Well we raised £1.2M from the sale of Blackman but we (allegedly) couldn't sign Wright-Phillips without going over the SCMP limit.

DW:- "Bradley Wright-Phillips was on our radar, but isn't anymore and that's because of costings. We have to be realistic and we can't bring players in who will take us over the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP)."

Who can say that Brentford are going over the limit?
Maybe Charlton are paying his wages (ala Bellamy when on loan at Cardiff)

Out - Blackman (£4k/week?), McAllister (£2k/week?), Philliskirk (£2k/week?), Porter (£n/a - I bet we're paying most if not all of his wages while he's at Shrewsbury) - £8k/week

In - Higginbotham (£7k/week?), Robson (£6k/week?), Forte (£5k/week?), Murphy (£4k/week?), Poleon (£n/a) - £22k/week

I'd estimate that we've upped our wagebill by £18k/week in the JTW - nearly £500k before the end of the year. Add into that the well-publicised cashflow issues at the Lane and you've got your answer.

Personally I think Wilson is being a bit disingenuous by blaming the SCMP but the bottom line is that we can't afford Wright-Phillips.

BWP has done sod all for 12 months. I for one am not worried about him signing for a rival. He ain't all that.

That's an awful lot of question marks. You've "estimated" that the club have upped their wage bill by £18k per week - based on pure guesswork. I've heard of creative accountancy, but this is pure speculation.

It's an opinion Broomers and at no stage have I said that it's anything but that. Referencing "creative accountancy" is a bit misleading as that's aimed at hiding things from legal documents in shady manners.

However, I can categorically state that Barry Robson's guaranteed remuneration at Vancouver was just under $600,000 which is what I've based his United wage on (here, if you're interested, is the salary information for every MLS player in October last year http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/October 1, 2012 Salary Information - By Club.pdf)

You say that it's just your opinion, but you used those purely speculative figures to accuse Wilson of being disingenuous about the SCMP. Maybe the purpose of your exercise was to have a dig at Wilson?

Whatever Barry Robson was earning at Vancouver has little bearing on what he is earning now. He came back with his tail between his legs and was probably forced to take a salary cut. That;'s my opinion, for what it's worth.

Not at all. I think there are financial issues at the Lane which extend beyond the wages to turnover restrictions but equally I completely understand why the SCMP would be given as a reason for not signing any particular player.

Allied to this I think that we've probably reinvested everything we could from the Blackman sale and that's the reasoning behind my post.

Seems like he is a free agent now and has been on trial New York Red Bulls.

Surely worth another punt? Or did he not want to move up north last time we went after him?

I'd like to see us at least attempting another tilt at signing him.

Offers movement and goals upfront, and every time he hits a barren patch Foxy can just call him a busted flush again and bingo, he'll be right back in form! :D

Probably want far higher wages than he deserves though. Can't see us going for it somehow. We need nobodies with a point to prove, not some johnny bigbollocks who's never lived up to the hype. Obviously we could do a lot worse, i just can't see it happening.

Scores goals though at this level at least.

He scores a few, but he doesn't seem to last at clubs very long. Usually a sign of a player who starts off well, then cant be arsed after a while. Or a trouble maker. Charlton seemed to not be able to get rid of him quick enough after they got promoted.

I just don't think he is Championship standard really.

You could be right, just bit weird how quickly Charlton decided to get rid of him. I'm not saying i wouldn't want us to sign him, just i wouldn't want to if it meant we couldn't afford someone else too. We either need 2 or 3 decent strikers or we piss all the wages on 1 star one. If he's the star 1, i'd rather pass. If he's part of 2 or 3 then he'd be a decent bet.
