you look at it logically
a 46 game season you know even if you win it you will lose 6 to 8
and if you had to pick 6 we could lose
saturdays must be in with a shout
never like a defeat but they do happen and the possibility was higher at bolton than most

I think the fact 10 games is the minimum to make a judgement still stands
yes weve blown winning all 46 but hey ho
hadnt put money on it
some must have looking at the reaction

Two negatives don't make a positive .
I know it's all about opinions but I honestly think Adams is twice the player Done will ever be, not saying he's anywhere near the finished article but he will end up nothing like Slew.

Lets see what happens chl.

I think this is a genuine 50/50 transfer where both clubs can claim it's a good deal .

...and with good reason. The reported fee is good, it's a great move for Che and - let's face it - would Che have progressed within the United setup and at Third Division level? No. IF he is going to progress his career, the Championship and at a team with few expectations is right for Che.

Don't let cynicism about our previous non-activity after selling players cloud your judgement. We all know we're 3 or 4 players away from forming a decent team. Without this money, it wouldn't have happened.

I think the reaction has been quite passive

James Wallace is apparently one of the best payed professionals* at the club and therefore in League One.

*I almost put "players". That would have been a mistake. You've got to actually play to get that description.

I'd be surprised he was with division 2 tranmere when we signed him and he was a gamble.

I really fail to see how Che Adams is being touted as one of our brightest talents. He has the physique to be a great footballer and admittedly there have been glimpses of what he could achieve.
However, it is far too infrequent for my liking, he doesn't have the right work ethic, he is lazy, slow in thought and deed, with a questionable first touch. Add to that the fact that he's so often seen out and about in the early hours and it all points to a fantastic bit of business for United, in my opinion. I really cannot for the life of me understand why someone in his position, who has been picked up from non league obscurity, given a second chance, does not show more ambition and determination to succeed, but he quite clearly thinks he's already made it? I believe his reputation is due purely to the media hype surrounding his 'fairytale' goals v Tottenham and subsequent England call up, because I've seen little since that would cause me to offer anything like 1.9 million?

Insert a sell on clause by all means, but I doubt we'll ever collect :(

UTB

To be selling him now must mean CW has something lined up, you don't sell without having plans, and as such, we have to trust him. I think Adams simply does not fit into the kind of football CW wants to play. If (and it's a big if) CW gets the money then hopefully we can complete the squad rebuild. If it's a case of looking at the bigger picture and selling to benefit the push to get out of this league then again we have to trust it's the right thing to do. But if no money is forthcoming and the required signings aren't made then we have been mugged once again haven't we. Fingers crossed eh .....

HAHAHAHA!!!!

Mate, this is Sheff Utd.

True , it is a matter of opinions . I just think the opportunity to improve the team in two or possibly three positions where we are clearly still lacking is too good an opportunity to miss . Particularly when it means selling a player who has shown only a ' glimmer ' of potential .

Having said all of that though ...... We've not sold him yet and we certainly haven't brought anyone in either .

Time will tell .

If we sell him and if we improve two or three positions then I'll be relatively happy but this is Sheff Utd mate, can you remember that last time we sold someone with raw talent and replaced them with better or anyone in some cases?

Not overly concerned with the sale of Adams provided all the money is reinvested in the team/squad in positions where we need strengthening ie dominant centre half, midfield general and probably now another option on the left side of midfield/left wing. With £1.7m extra Wilder should be able to upgrade on what he was after, or offer more to persuade the selling club to release and/or the player to sign. Be reets Wilder should now be able to cherry pick from our division on what he believes is the best player in each position he is after, that's providing (big if) our board push all the unbudgeted wedge into new players.

My view on Adams was that he might put in 1 brilliant game in 8 but the other 7 he would be awful, in those games some of his decision making imo was amateurish. For a more miss than hit wide player he's in a position where we can sacrifice, especially if we can bring other players in that can influence games in more key areas such as centre half and centre mid. If the board release those funds (reinvestment into the team to ensure promotion has to be seen as a good business move, surely?) then selling Adams is a good deal; if the board do their usual trick and make a half-hearted / half-arsed attempt at re-investment and we miss out on promotion then it would probably have been worth keeping him.

This transfer of it happens proves how difficult it is for a team in league 1 to pick up the young hungry talented players we all expect. Che hasn't been fantastic or ripped his way through this division. He's young, not sure about hungry and has undoubtedly got some talent - just not sure how much or how consistently he can produce it.

If we were looking to buy him from another league 1 club, can you honestly say he would be a good buy at around £2m???

We expect our club to me making signings of young hungry players but look at the fees they command - we need to be realistic

Hope he makes it and provides us with a cash boost in the future and more than anything I really hope CW is given funds to strengthen on the back of it - even loans

The financial inequalities embedded in the Premier/Football League mean clubs at our level are going to struggle to hang on to their better players. That said I can't help thinking back to when Louis Reed was the centre of attention and attracting interest - who wouldn't take the amounts that were rumoured at the time now? Adams has gone. Its no surprise. Can we use the money effectively? Will Adams go on and develop? Can we get rid of the crap? Remains to be seen. Meanwhile we have a division to get out of.

UTB.

I'm willing to wait and see who Wilder brings in with the cash, because on this occasion it was the managers decision to sell and not the board for a change, but Che has still been undersold. Best English striker under the age of 21 outside of the top two divisions and we have fans thinking we've got good money for him.

I would suggest they need to look around at the type of fees being thrown about for young English potential (not even necessarily talent) and reconsider.

Che is decent enough but if he is the best u21 striker outside the top two divisions, doesn't say much for the rest BML.

Barnsley seemed to pick up some good loan signings last season which paid dividends, especially Hammill, would be happy with a couple of decent loans providing we can have them for long enough.

Part one accomplished ..... now for part two .

CW ..... In you I trust .

What makes you think, bearing in mind our past record, that this is going to happen - I,m not holding mi breath

It may be just me, but didn't anyone think that someone starting a thread called "Brace yourselves" who has this as his avatar was slightly amusing.

It cracked me up.

1.7m, 1.9m or whatever the fee was.

Not a bad return for a player signed for relative peanuts from non-league.

Come on BB, you know the corollary to that in respect of the dross that remained as a drain on the profit made by that deal.

Swings and roundabouts eh?
