Bouncing day massacre

I remember Leon CLark scoring a classy (3rd) goal for Bury in 2015 (they beat us 1-3) where he lobbed the keeper.

He had such a great touch and I thought if only we could sign this guy he would be a quality striker for us.

Thankfully it did happen about 10 months later as Wilder signed him for a nominal fee.

True halcyon days they were. I was right behind the goal on the kop when Leon banged that 4 goaler in. Remember same game that Polish dude for Hull scored the first goal and did the R7 celebration in front of the kop. Nobhead!

Clarke moved clubs a helluva lot and didn't seem to settle anywhere for long.

He did seem to enjoy his time at the Lane though and he probably had his most prolific goalscoring return with us and he only ever played twice in the PL in his whole career and that was with us as well.

I don't know if this counts as sensationalist gossip or useful (historical) context, but it looks like maybe Leon did not come from the most stable of cirumstances. It might make some sense of why he seems to have found it quite hard to fit in anywhere for any length of time.

For the Pigs viewing this thread and trying to dumb down Bouncing day. This one hurt more. Bobby Davison day. It was in the top division. They were riding high in 3rd place with deluded thoughts they were going to win the title. Carlton Palmer had said after their 2-0 defeat in November at the Lane "wait till we get you back to our place." He then spent the full 90 minutes in Paul Rodgers pocket. A Blades double in the top division that prevented them getting runners up spot. Much more of an achievement than a low level third division game played on Boxing Day.
