Boro red card

I kind of agree. It was a harsh 2nd yellow but I did not think it at the time. Fleck made a meal of it and ref like many n the ground probably thought it was worse than it was. If it had been one of ours rolling around think we would have been quite annoyed. Happened to us a fair bit this year mind. Boro were filthy though and they were very cynical.

Problem was that the red had already set himself up with booking players for general fouls which in most matches would simply warrant a free kick. At the same time though he let far worse challenges go without even blowing up. Thought he was utterly shite for both sides to be fair

Thought it was harsh in as far as he probably wouldn't [or at least shouldn't] have been yellowed for that on it's own. Just my opinion.

That being said we have been on the end of some appalling decisions so far this season, so I'll take whatever we can get.

Bookable offence lunged at Fleck minimal contact but still a yellow card. Player had already been booked for doing the same, stupid challenge in the middle of the park where we were going nowhere. Ref's got some pelters for some inconsistent decisions afterwards but he set his stall out to punish deliberate fouls that stopped players in their tracks. Against Pulis team of thugs it was good decision making.

Looking back at it, it was a tad harsh on the lad and Fleck made the most of it. The ball looked like it was there to be won and Fleck only just beat him to it. Ref was wank anyway.

There were a few cynical fouls before that the ref didn't card for, which may have made their idiot think he could get away with tripping fleck up in front of the ref.
They were cynical all night and the ref clearly eased up on them after sending him off, he was a lot more likely to even the numbers up than punish them again.

Quite enjoyed the throw in tho:
Take it from further back please
Nah fuck off ref I'm taking it from here.
Ok blades throw !

Thought the ref might as well have had a boro shirt on to be honest. The red was merited for 2 stupid fouls and honestly they were lucky to finish with 10 left on the pitch. Fabio should have walked for his constant moaning and there was a tackle in the 2nd half that was almost identical to the one fleck walked for vs Bristol. Dirty dirty side are boro.

Referee was very close to the incident so I think he's the one to judge.we've all played football and a knock can be quiet painful short term but recover quickly.
In any case with what happened at the Bristol game, does anyone blame him for making the most of it.
Boro were very physical and our players will have bumps and bruises we stood up to it well, credit to us for that and a vital 3 points

Could it be that we are coming to terms with Championship ways and that you need to employ a bit of gamesmanship every now and then.....slow it down, (the Norwich Way) and roll about a bit.....we have been on the receiving end a hell of a lot this season so why not give a bit back..

The way leadbitter was playing he was going to get sent off eventually he kept mistiming his tackles

Spot on. One of the worst this season imho.

He ignored the blatant foul on Brooks that could have been a yellow not long after the sending off because I think the red was on his mind.

See it too often.

That said Pulis, whilst I sort of like him, is a fucking joke on the touchline. Appeals everything no matter how obvious and blatant it is.

Only seen it from one angle, so can anyone explain why he’s sent off for that?

From what I can see, we’d be livid if one of our lads got a second yellow for that. Hardly touched him.

Not harsh at all by 2018 footballing/refereeing standards.

Harsh by what some of us grew up with, but football has changed.

Fleck nicked the ball away from a player that had already been booked, he was off on his bike and the boro lad kicked his ankles. For the ones that noticed later on in that half - Fleck pulled out of a challenge near to South Stand touch line as he knew he was already on a booking. Well done to Fleck and fucking idiot to the Boro lad. The way they played 2nd half we probably wouldn't have got 3 points if it was 11 v 11.

UTB

Thought it was a standard yellow. Fleck beats him and he makes a bad challenge to take him out. Not a nasty one, and refs usually give a final warning, but it's a yellow.

I see your point, but I would be amazed if Wilder sees it that way.

Everything he’s said leads me to believe he’s still old school and would be having words.

They ‘probably’ wouldn’t have played like that if it was 11 v 11. Is the cat dead?

The foul on Brooks was a nasty one. Missing it completely was incompetent at best.

Pulls is not unlike Warnock in more ways than one. The crucial difference is that he has been known to have a second season in the Prem.

.

Each to their own; I'd sooner see us lose with integrity than cheat to win.

Where's the cheat ? Fleck took a knock probably painful at that. The ref was on the spot and brought out the yellow followed by a red very. Quicklyly

I wasn't specifically reffering to Fleck. I was responding to a poster encouraging us to waste time and "roll around a bit"

I call it cheating, others call it gamesmanship to make themselves feel less guilty.

Now then Chali 2na ........... I didn't say we should "cheat"....I'm with you all the way on that score and would much rather us play honest football....what I was saying was that we have lost points this season to other teams gamesmanship and in some cases, blatant cheating and that maybe, perhaps, there could be some teams being given a taste of their own medicine in certain return games.......I presume then from your comments you would be happy to chalk off the 3-points we won at Norwich, because we certainly did to them what they did to us at BDTBL and Chris Wilder loved it....that was proved by him coming over to us at the end and tapping his watch!

Like it or not gamesmanship/cheating call it what you will is part of the game at every level and always has been....Dave Basset & Neil Warnock were absolute masters at it...!

You didn't say we should cheat by your definition, but you did by my definition.

And whether or not Wilder, Basset or Warnock employed these tactics doesn't change my view - it doesn't sit well with me and I don't enjoy watching it.

OK......well to be clear I don't think we should cheat and I certainly didn't say that, my original post was a question or a suggestion of what might have lead to certain situations in certain games......

So, and you conveniently swerved my previous question.....by your definition then we cheated to gain 3 points at Norwich, happy to chalk those points off?

He should have been sent to the stands for:

a) Spending most of the game outside the technical area - despite being warned by the spineless fourth official and
b) Being a cunt.

Because its cheating

Cheats prosper. Ask Leicester. Or West Ham. Or Leeds.
