In my own experience, I've caught far more trout 'accidentally' on maggots than with the fly, but I must admit I do occasionally like to dress for the part and flick out the old orange dog nobbler.

For me, it's either Peatling Pools or Shearsby Valley or off down the Grand Union.
Canals are often overlooked these days, but there's some cracking roach, bream and tench in there.
