Booing Billy

Not in direct reply to your ridiculous non-sequitur, but...

When the Vale played W*dnesday in the League Cup earlier this season, he was interviewed on Midlands Today about family connections in Sheffield and what it would be like to beat the oinkers. He said that yes, it was true, he had family from the dark side and went up loads in my estimation, but I'm not sure many midlanders understood quite what he meant.

Give over.
It was an absolute disgrace that Micky Adams even agreed to manage Port Vale for that match.
That he actually enjoyed the win was unforgivable.
Calls himself a Blade as well.

Yes, but for putting Toure on his arse and then slotting the ball past Lehman at the lane, Nade is ok for me!!

that was a quality moment ( and a tidy finish )

but apart from that he was poor. and the fact he couldn't score regularly in the scottish pub league suggests we were right to get rid

Correct, he was shite, but I found the Arsenal game to be my favourite moment of that premiership season. At Hearts, he was dismal though, wasn't he?

yes, and regularly in trouble too. i remember some sort of motoring offence and the club were less than impressed with his fitness on a regular basis!!

Yes, his fitness was always an issue up there. Didn't he also pick up a few red cards as well?

I think his celebrations were what riled most people.

He's got every right to celebrate scoring for his employers... but then the fans of his supposed first love have got every right to tell him they aren't happy about it.

And he wasn't half bloody milking it at times.

His Dad hardly helped matters either goading the fans below him on John Street, that's what set it all off.

This is all getting a bit out of hand. He obviously feels badly treated by United, and also took some stick off the fans before he scored. Then he scored. What would you have done at that age under those circumstances? The whole thing was just panto on both sides. Yes, he brought most of it on himself, and yes, a lot of the crowd reacted to it exactly as you would expect. Its a passionate game and emotions run high, that's why we love it. Its no big deal.

Aye, it's odd that this is the longest post-match thread. It's not even a storm in a tea cup. A wimble in a thimble.

I had no problem with Sharp until we played Donny away. Fair enough, we shouldn't really boo him as it was no fault of his that we let him go, but it wasn't OUR (the fans') fault either so there's no need for him to be such a dick towards us with his smarmy goal celebrations. I've never understood why a player would be so happy to score against the club they've always supported to be honest. His ego has shot through the roof since playing for Donny and he seems to think he's the next Tony Currie or summat. Pipe down Billy, kid.

Put us in our place, the abuse was quite embarrassing but his antics weren't exactly professional either. All a bit of child's play.

Deep down he knows he'd have love to have scored that penalty FOR us and have the majority of BL on his side. We let him down, and today, like it did before, it'd bit us in the bum.

I saw his gestures towards the KOP & his celebrations further tarnished any affection i had left for the lad.

As has been said he no longer plays for us nor does he give two hoots.
His affection will always be to his 'current' employer.

Billy who? Sorry the game yesterday was all about United. As he's no longer with us I couldn't give a rats arse about him.

I have no reason to boo him. Tried hard for us, just didn't work out under the management, I thought some of the "i won't play for United whilst Robson/ Blackwell is manager" was a biot childish if true, but doesn't deserve to be booed.

Answered the boo boys well with two goals.

Yes, boo Billy Sharp, never been a Blade, he's rubbish, big fish in small pond, fat, crap bla, bla, bla.
If y'all say so.

There are quite a few at The Lane who think lenners is in the 'not a Blade club, sits next to Billy on the commitee'.

Can't say I heard any boo's until his celebration.

What buggs me about this is the ''he got booed'' bit. Most did not boo him. Most wanted him as a blades player still. So he got booed at the start by a small minority, he should be clever enough by now to realise the level of stick he gets either here, scunny, pigs, dingles or whoever. Most Blades wished him well (although not against us). He surly knows that. YET he took his celebration too far. Maybe he could have had a T shirt on this time that said 'Love Blades Hate Blackwell'. Sorry Billy I saw the other things you did at the lane during your time and had affection for that. Because you dont have the intelligence to separate Fans affection from management fall out then you gone down as just another Twat player. You can expect real scorn next time.
As one woman said it last night ''Who needs that fat lad from Sheffield''

Some people are just annoyed that the player they thought was 'rubbish' had the cheek to score against us.

I clapped him off.
Still a Blade for me and let's face it his performance rather highlighted the shortcomings of our £3m man.

Personally ....... I think that Evans has "stepped up" in the last month and started to perform. IF we continue to play to his strengths as we are doing, I think he will become a good Championship player.

He cost us £700,000 ish not £3m.

Denis Law, Paul Peschisolido and Kenwyne Jones have all showed how you react to scoring against your former employers.

So did Brian Deane.............oh no wait a minute, he did quite the opposite when he scored for Leeds against us but he's still an idol at the Lane. Hey Ho, selective memory is always helpful in debate ;)

Seriously though, no matter how much you slate him he scored 2 goals yesterday and has a good goalscoring record everywhere he's played bar for us. Agree totally that what he did was pantomime but it just shows how far we've sunk when our once humorous supporters now take themselves way too seriously.

I'd like to have a word in Billy's ear and suggest he does not celebrate scoring against us at all. As far as I'm aware the fans at BDTBL were always good to him - his gripe was with the management and the best way to make his point and keep his dignity is to score goals and keep quiet. One day, you never know he might want to come back home. Grow up Billy

The problem has always supposed to be with management, not the supporters of the club he allegedly supports. Therefore, why give us, the fans of the club he allegedly supports, grief?

Really? Are you suggesting United have recorded false figures in their accounts?
If he scores 40-50 goals between now and the end of next season he will have gone somewhere close to justifying his fee and wages.

Has Henderson justified his fee and wages?

Right at this moment how much has Evans cost Len? Just out of interest as you obviously have an inside track on this, despite you already being proven wrong about him costing £3 Million upfront.

Bob, I don't think any fees are paid up front. The dates of instalments are just meaningless. I don't understand why you keep inferring that because it wasn't all up front, we somehow got him cheaper?

I think in the end the dust will settle, we'll all realise we've got a 10 - 12 goal a season man. I'll concede he wasn't quite as talentless as he first looked, but we'll all agree that we've squandered an AWFUL lot of money on him.

can't see what all of the fuss is about.. it's not like he did an adebeyour and ran to the kop is it?.. plus he owes it to the donny fans to celebrate this time really
