Looked like a team going up to me. I know we rested players but they looked men against boys at times. They have so much height and strength with the added bonus of some class attacking players. They have some weaker links (and lack pace) but if they add a couple in January I think they'll be unbeatable. They've been winning games by a single goal and they seem good enough to hold out against teams. Very solid defence.

Let's hope someone buys Clough or Scunthorpe implode.

Very solid defensively, strong at set pieces, make it count when they attack, grind out results, and for now at least they have Zach Clough.

I think they'll just be a bit more consistent than us.

I'm glad we scored twice against them today though. That's quite important psychologically.

Still prefer Clarke and Lavery to Done?

Hard to disagree with that. Think they will bully their way out of this league in one way or another. Losing Clough could really fuck them over though, as could the transfer embargo. Still not too fussed about losing in the cup and I can see us beating them in the league match at the Lane .

Well we're still only 2 points behind them when they've had Clough for the first half of the season. If they keep him then I expect them to win the league but if not we're definitely good enough to finish above them

Clough was injured at the start of the season. I believe his return coincided with his return. Ameobi looks like a warm day players. When you're bringing Taylor and Proctor off the bench, you have a strong squad at this level.

Agree about the goals, particularly Coutts. He really does need to back himself more often on the edge of the box, could get us a few crucial league goals if he does.

I think we're still waiting for Ameobi to leave the pitch.....

I didn't think we fared to bad, that Scougall sitter goes in and it's a different game, what we have learned from the game is that Clarke isn't an answer to any questions, unless the question is who is our weak link.

Really didnt think they looked that good considering we were basically playing our B team apart from about 3 players. Large spells i thought we matched them. They were more clinical and we gifted them a goal. Ameobis was pretty unstopable and there 3rd was very well worked.

Again where we lacked was creating/taking opportunities, some long periods of play that had no real purpose. We are trying to walk it into the net at times and sometimes it just needs leathering. Shots score goals, goals win games.

Shocking defending for their first - madines basically gifted to them on a plate, scoogs should have scored, but they could of had another which was cleared off the line. Funny game, but all in all i dont think we did too badly considering the team we fielded.

Think we should be able to beat them with our full strength 11, i might be in the minority

Well I I've seen them twice on the box recently and I thought they were shiite. Won the first one thanks to two dodgy pens and not much else to show but lumping it, and they lost the second with hardly a shot on goal all game.

If we can recruit well in January I think we'll finish above them, more worried about Scunny TBH.

I was surprised by how poor Bolton were actually, early on they had nothing in midfield and we were passing it straight through them, Clough was very ordinary, only Ameobi seemed to be putting much effort in.

They're solid defensively (but still let 2 in against our toothless attack) and a threat from set pieces, but they were far too negative to judge once they were in front, a bit like Chesterfield tried to be against us with everyone in their own box and inviting pressure.

If they get promoted ahead of us it'll be disappointing as they're not very good at football.

Bolton looked like a typical League One promotion team to me (even if they were playing against a weakened United).

Massive centre backs, decent squad and Madine who bullied us off the ball all game.

Some of the fringe players missed a chance to prove something today. Clarke and Lavery ineffective, Hussey nowhere and Scouggs flattering to deceive.

For all our possession and territory, Bolton had the better chances. Very disappointing day.

I'm hoping that Sharp and Done are back in the team on Saturday and that we invest in January.

I'm not for one second saying they were good. They played ok when they needed to and had players with a lot of experience and nous. They just looked like they had that bit extra if they needed it. Their midfield is the weak link. If they sort that out in January I think they'll just walk the league.

Erm, they beat us by 1 goal and we started the game without Moore, Wright, EEL, Lafferty, Duffy and Sharp.

I'll echo those sentiments Barney .

3 goals conceded ? Well we did have 3 regular defenders out and an 18 year old academy goalie in .

My only concern about today is the fact that we dominated possession ..... again ...... and struggled to create upfront ..... again !

Agree with that. Put EEL' Billy and Lafferty in that side today and I think we would have beaten them.

A much changed and weakened United side had the lion's share of the match and, but for the misfiring in front of goal that has afflicted us since the week when we scored 14 in 3 games, we would have won. Sharp, Done and Chapman will hopefully be back involved against Swindon as the back-ups fluffed their lines.

Really not impressed with Bolton, but then again I don't suppose anyone has ever enjoyed watching Phil Parkinson's teams. They're grinding results in true Parkinson style and let's face it, he had to play his full strength side today, as they need the money from a cup run. Whether they can carry on in this fashion will depend on what happens in January with the transfer embargo and whether they have to shift some players out to keep the club running. They don't look to me to be the sort of side that will run away with promotion, though.

I strongly disagree with this. Passing the ball across your defence is meaningless unless you do something with it. I thought, until they scored the third goal went in, it was fairly equal with them looking more likely. They sat back a bit towards the end but had a couple of breaks they should have done much better with.

Yeah lets hope other teams fuck up, that usually works out well for us.

I think the issue is that the manager has set the standard & expectation levels, his post match interview after Charlton left no one under any illusions as to what he expects in terms of results & performance levels.

The last 3 games have fallen short of those standards.
