Cant decide what result would be bettter for us in that fixture ? A win for Scunny puts Bolton further behind as long as we win.
A win for Bolton gives us a chance to get top spot as long as we win !

Maybe a draw would be good and as they have to play each other twice and therefore 6 points up for grabs so if one team got all 6 and the other none would that be an advantage for us ?

Then 2 draws could be good as they both drop 4 points !!

Oh **** lets us just win our matched and see what happens !!

I don't think that there is a bad result for us in this.

Scunny will be going into this game on the back of playing Bradford away and up to yesterday i would've put the money on Bradford, being at home and in a big game, but they're bottling it at the moment. They could be dropping out of the top 6 after new year if they don't pick up their form a bit.

As for Bolton v Scunny, Bolton's result yesterday was a shock. It'll be a tough game for both sides when they meet on New Years eve. Basically with 3 of the top 4 sides facing each other, its going to take its toll and the three of them will drop points

In this respect, the Christmas period is so much more favourable to us, away game at cov, then a decent rest, followed by 2 home games!

We can only benefit, whatever the result.... providing we get some points too!

I've got no problem going up as Runners -up:)

I've no problem with being promoted as Runners-up!

On reflection I guess that 2 draws where they both drop 4 points would be the best -IF they are both in the frame when they play the return fixture later. As someone has said I would love to win the league but if its 2nd and automatic then I will take it

As long as we get promoted that's all that matters

Yes, a bit of icing on the cake with a cherry on top would be great but I wouldn't be too bothered

Just fkin get promoted Blades

Common sense says a draw, next best would be a real thumping for one or the other to shake belief in one of them to the core.

I've said before that I would like Scunny to beat Bolton and then lose to Bradford who are already comfortably behind us. Not sure how likely either result is but I think they would benefit us the most. Bolton are unlikely to lose many more so we should hope Scunny do us a favour.

Of course all of this is irrelevant if we don't win our own matches.

I don't think what Scunny and Bolton do will matter a jot if we continue the form we've shown since the Oxford game.

Indeed and none of us, me included, have the slightest idea what would be the best result in games between our current competitors. April may tell us that we should have been hoping for the exact opposite of anything we say now.

Best result for us over New Year is both clubs lose key players. With Bolton knackered financially hopefully as a minimum they will lose Clough and Scunny must be fearing bids for their best players.

Scunny win all day long. I am not arsed in the slightest about finishing as champions, just so long as we go up automatic.
Agree, a scunny win and us to take maximum points over the festive period, get a bit of breathing space between 2nd and 3rd. Promotion via automatic spot is the main aim, but it would be nice to go up as champions, I have only witnessed us do that from the old 4th division.

A draw would do very nicely thank you very much .

Ultimately , however , it's what we do that counts . The fact that we have made ground on both Bolton and Scunny after the first 4 games tells us all we need to know and be concerned about .

As an aside . Has anyone got a " form guide " to hand for the last 8 matches ? That could be interesting viewing .

Cheers mate .

There's one point difference between us scunny and Bolton in the last 6 games . Not too bad for us considering we endured our first real wobble after the first 4 games !

Peterborough and Southend the form teams . Bradford 14th with Chesvegas in 12th ..... Bradford need to turn things around pretty sharpish or they are fucked for the automatic spots .

Oldham, Northampton and Bury are all in the bottom 4 on that form guide......our next 3 opponents

They can't both win. That's what's good for us. If we do our job while those two are playing we're guaranteed to make some ground up on one or both of them that day. Looking at the fixture list, we need to get a good run together because we have a very tough February where things can go extremely well or extremely poorly for us.

If Scunthorpe draw their next three games that's as good an outcome as we could get. 18 points available for promotion rivals and only 6 achieved

In the game Bradford v scunny on BD - then Bradford to win.

In the OP question - a draw as 1 point is "lost" to them both.

Doesn't matter what you wish for as whatever happens, happens. However having said that I want us to be champions and it's still in our own hands (just).
