Bobby Thomas

I think if we signed him earlier in the window people would have been happier but everybody is on a downer about United right now and Thomas isn't enough to get people optimistic again

Nah. It's just a lot of posters on here, I'm not going to say our fans in general as this board isn't a mirror image of our whole fanbase, are a bunch of bedwetting idiots.

Said "fans" for the last few weeks - Our summer TW has been shite, COH are skint, We're fucked etc etc.

Same "fans" now - He's shite, waste of money, we can do better, he's not what we need etc etc.

Why, because Lampard said he wants to keep him, Rooney said the same thing in regards to Cooper last summer.

And Selles would have felt the same about Anel and Souza.

The fact that this has been leaked by a credible source, talking about bids being put in, means that Bobby Thomas is willing to come here.

It's the first part of any transfer, you make sure the player is actually interested in joining the club, if they say yes then you move on to personal terms and bids etc, if they say no, you move on.
Why we would he want to come to this shower I was implying

You’re honestly the worst troll. What’s the beef? The suns out, you been outside today?
Troll?? If you were a player “interested” in joining this club and you’ve just watched the last 3 pathetic performances would you want to come?
Where players clearly aren’t happy and not playing for the manager and there’s clearly unrest in the dressing room.
Oh and your at a club with a high profile manager and are more than likely going to finish above us.

That troll enough for you??

So Basically you have no idea and its just your opinion.

If results don't improve under Selles, it is highly likely that he will be sacked, and as you well know, the players don't tend to get sacked along with the manager.

Add in that we are a much bigger club than Coventry, and can probably pay him more. There is every chance he will be itching to come here.

We might not be able to pay more, I’m guessing Lampard will be on mega bucks.

He won’t be soiling the bed due to a couple of losses like a lot of our fan base currently

If the money is good he will come
Plus, he'll know that Cov are trying to get Charlie Hughes, think that initial £7-8m bid was a week or two ago now, so Thomas will know that Cov are prepared to drop big money on a CB, which would put his position under threat.

Then Sheffield United come calling, offering you more money (most likely) and a gauraunteed starting place (which he'll get), you'd certainly consider it, and most likely accept it.

I said this earlier in the thread, but if the basis of this rumour is that we're preparing/putting in a bid for him, then it's almost certain that Bobby Thomas is open to coming here, and (which I didn't mention in my previous post) that Coventry are willing to sell him to us.

Without doubt he is, the first thing that is done is you see if the player will come and then it’s how much

Thomas will know he could easily end up remaining in championship with Cov so why turn down more money based on 2 games

It’s two league matches , Bobby Thomas or any other potential player that is in talks or possible talks will not judge Sheffield United the club on the basis of those games . We need to give all the players and manager our backing and see our club rise up the table .
If anything, they might look at those 2 games and go.

"I'll definitely get in that team and I'll start all season if I sign for these, maybe even on better money than what I'm currently earning as well"

The swivel and volley in the last minute in front of the packed out Railway End on that dry dusty pitch (Edwards had gone off injured also i think) truly a thing of beauty. It was about the only thing he did for us that was any good though but 42 years later it it still being wrote about. Didn't Bob Atkins go on to be a copper ?
It capped a brilliant day out. Still remember it vividly. 😁😁😁😁😁

He is not worth 8 million quid.
Look at it as a straight swap for Anel and you might change your opinion.

Hes 24, played pretty much every single game in the last 2 seasons for a play off team and scored 7 goals in those 2 seasons.

FWIW my lad who watches a lot more football than I do and tends to be pretty negative said hed be a great signing

I watched yesterday and yes he had a positive in the opposition box however gave a penalty away, headed a ball in his own box to a Derby player to score and doesn't look strong in one on one's.Not for me we need strong leaders.

You'll be disappointed if you think Bobby Thomas is as good as Anel.

At 24, there's time for him to develop, but it would definitely be a downgrade for this season.

Yep just like Soumare iant as good as Souza but that's what happens when u sell your best players.

We will be very lucky to replace Anel with someone as good for the same money for 2 reasons. Firstly Anel only had a year left on his contract and wouldn't sign another and secondly everyone knows we are desperate to sign a CB.
