Bobby Thomas

I’ve always rated Thomas and touted for him last summer but price was always going to be a stumbling block back then. If we have the money to spend, it’s a no brainer.

They'll know how desperate we are to get bodies in, and we probs need 3 defenders in total. Anyways, two weeks at the rate we progress transfers is still pushing it ;)
To be fair if we get one in, it becomes less desperate

Been looking on their forum and looks like the majority rate him quite highly and would be sad to see him go. A few saying £8m would be a good price / they should let him go for that, but that doesn't mean they don't rate him.

On the other hand, if we spend £8m on Thomas, and they use that + £2-4m on Hughes and/or Doyle, who's getting the best deal?

Coventry would be.

Them. They're both better players/prospects respectively. But we really need someone who is physical and knows the league. He does.

Better value options that would better suit Selles-ball out there IMHO but anything that winds-up Cov fans gets a 👍 from me. They’ll never be forgiven for that disgraceful SISU protest.

Hull are reported to want 17 million for Hughes, which is what they got for Greaves. Latest thing I read on that situation said they were confident of keeping Hughes.

But say Cov get Hughes for 12 million. They're still down a defender because they've had to sell Thomas to afford Hughes. So if they can afford to pay 12 million for Hughes and then more on another decent replacement for Thomas, good luck to them because they simply have more resources than we do (and more than almost anyone else in the division).

Hope he’s good else Selles will be denied any further budget moving forward (and get the chop) a.k.a The Tom Cannon effect

We are probably funding their signing of Hughes with this though. Quite funny.

Part funding, certainly.

That doesn't bother me too much though to be honest. On balance, yes Hughes is a better player, but I happen to think both are probably going to be overpriced, Hughes more so.

Cov will be taking the bigger risk.

Not read any of this thread so it may have already been said. But if Thomas is the player who I think it is, he had a really good game in the Play Off 2nd leg v S'land

well at least its a start looking like its thomas and zatterson coming in for the centre back cover if we could get mepham as well i think that would cover us nicely get the everton guy in and 1 more striker and things might just pick up for us keep the faith blades as much as the pigs are loving it just now their in far worse trouble than us and certs to get relegated the tide will turn utb ftp ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️

We’d still be incredibly light at RB and RM/RW, Ancient.

I hope this isn't another "you can have him when we've signed a replacement" scenario
That's what the big boys do, when a deal is being done and one team has no choice but to wait. Coventry aren't playing that role here.
Coventry would be.
Hughes clearly isn't available for £10m if this is being done around £8m.
Wasn't the ridiculous figure that was touted to the press £17m plus?
