For me, he is the most underrated player in the team at the moment. Similar to Naysmith in that respect but a different player. Dependable enough at the back, comfortable in possession and offers something going forward.

Beard in need of improvement, though.

Interestingly according to the stats on the main site he is yet to commit a foul in a league game. Admittedly the four fouls in FA cup games could have resulted in 2 sending offs.

Have to say I wasn't sold on him at first, however he seems to have settled now and I think he's an upgrade on any left back we have probably had in the last 3 years.

For me, he is a good solid full-back, wins his headers, often gets a vital toe in, uses the ball sensibly and is a decent overlapping option.

He will get occasionally get beat because other teams have wingers who they expect to beat their full-back just like we do with ours. But those occasions should hopefully be few and far between.

It’s good now that left-back is not a position we particularly have to worry about for the time being, he’ll do for the foreseeable future.

Agree Kev Gee, always room for improvement, but we now have a back four who look solid rather than prone to panic. Add to that how Howard has made the position of goalie his own and we're looking good. I'd like to add a word for Collins too. I know Harry gets a lot of plaudits, but the tough Scot deserves praise for raising his game, and as a C/h pairing they now perform to a decent standard. One final thing though, while we're on defensive issues, it all started to go right with the appearance of Brayford. I know the lad has been a revelation and that we all would love to see him sign permanently for the Blades, but we won't find a better attacking fullback than this guy, so can the Prince please, please, please, make an offer to Cardiff plus ensure that the Beard is given a contract that he finds acceptable? Surely this is what we have to do if we're serious about promotion next season?
