Any one know if and where there is a boat trip up the Thames to craven cottage that you can also have a beer on please

If you are travelling from central London for a midweek match at the Cottage, then you can also consider the novelty of arriving by boat.

Transport For London operates a scheduled service from the piers at Blackfriars & Embankment, terminating at Putney. The trip takes just under an hour, and you should also allow an additional 20 – 30 min to walk the final leg of the journey to the stadium.

There are scheduled arrivals at Putney Pier at 18:15 & 19:20.

A full adult fare is £8.25, reduced to £5.50 with a valid travelcard.

Please note that the riverboat service does not operate on weekends or public holidays. Further information can be found on the Transport For London website.

A good excuse to post this. A few familiar faces on there...

What a great day that was on the boat and just watching the video, I was taken aback at how young a few people looked. Then I realised it's 23 years ago! Awful game but the London Brick afterwards was totally chocka with Blades drinking and singing. Class day out! I lived in Putney then too, so easy walk home for me. Good job an 'all after a few gallon!

We could have a barge to Bramall Lane for visiting supporters….

Although not that familiar as the majority of us have not aged gracefully. What a day out though, think we were back in the pub just after half-time owing to the quality of football on display.

Was a good day on the boat, football was dreadful, lost 4-0, and got absolutely soaked and frozen on the open away terrace. Stayed to the end though (and got moaned at big style for refusing to leave early) !

Remember being in the Eight Bells after the game where most of the London Blades were.

Get yourself a Dingy looked lost in the middle of the Thames and you will be picked up and taken to a five star hotel with free food free energy free dental and medical and they’ll give you a free mobile phone with some pocket money..probably arrange to take you to the match too
