I noticed in the shout box today that others were having trouble with this today.

The second half was almost impossible to listen to as it kept dropping out, I guessed about a dozen times.

So I emailed Blades Player through the 'contact us' button and got a fairly swift response.

They said it was caches or corrupted Cookies on my pc, but I'd cleared this a few weeks ago and hadn't used Blades player since. I thought it was a very poor response to be fair.

I would urge anyone else having these issues to get in contact with them as well to make it clear that there is a problem.

I also complained that bang on full time the comma switch to derby v pigs - I wanted to listen to post match interviews and other final scores, not the pigs.

I'm seriously considering cancelling but it's the only way I have of listening to the blades

I received the same response last week about cookies etc, I did everything they told me to do, but it still kept cutting out. Today though it was ok [ish] I lost it 4 or 5 times in the first half but not at all 2nd half. When it cut out today I pressed the Shrewsbury button, then back to the United button then Play and it came back straight away. Last week v Burton though the service was awful but all customer service would say was "working fine"

I had the same problem as you and I am really frustrated by it. The only real consistency I get with Blades Player is their ability to bill me every month. That process appears to be very reliable. I missed most of the seconfd half but managed the last five minures. I'm no techie but that seems to be doen to the service provider, not the PC I own. I am with you on this one Swiss and will be making representations to them. I like& need live commentary so worth putting in a bit of effort to get it right

It might be worth contacting the club in order to pass on your frustrations to the providers, or at least copying them into the complaint. As the club receive money for each subscription to the Player service, it's in their best interests for fans to keep paying their subs.

Thats RS for you as soon as our match ends they can't wait to switch off and switch back to their main game. That is the problem with one radio station trying to broadcast mutiple games it just doesn't work.
To have a decent service the Blades need a station that just covers their games otherwise we just have to be happy with the RS bush league service.

The commentary was awful. Who was the moron doing it. On every Blades attacks he was so slow that you knew it had come to nothing by the crowd reaction and the groans. He hardly seemed to recognise the players on this occasion or that occasion (his favourite phrase.
Didn't have it cutting out though.

He was pretty poor, but i'll give him a chance. I'm not sure if he's BladesPlayer or Radio Sheff Commentator.

He was very poor.

Mine was cutting out at key moments before the match too, which made me think it was some prankster. I switched on about ten or fifteen minutes before kick off and listened to some buildup, then the very second they went to the Danny Wilson interview it cut out, which meant I missed the whole thing trying to work out how to get it back. Then, after getting it working again, they went round the grounds just before kick off to confirm team news. I got all the team news up to our man at Bramall Lane, then again, as soon as it switched to him, I was met with silence.

It dropped six or seven times during the match and to make it come back, I had to do exactly what Donut did. There's absolutely no way this is a just a problem with my PC or ISP. During periods where the commentary had dropped, my missus was merrily using the internet on her computer and I could also browse other sites.

Oh, I use Chrome, but also tried both Firefox and IE and had the same issue.

I use Chrome also.
One of the replies to my complaint last week to BladesPlayer Customer Services suggested I download and use Chrome, when I told them that's what I use they just continued with the line that everything at their end is fine and that the fault is with me, that's when I started to lose my rag with them . . .

This might sound like a patronising question, but your misuses wasn't trying to stream last nights eastenders was she???

If she was using the capacity on your line heavily it could explain the dips...

That's very patronising, yes. I'm not a n00b.

She wasn't using it for the whole time and when she was, it was emails and window shopping. She wouldn't know how to stream because she is a complete n00b.

And it wouldn't explain why Donut and others were having the same issue.

1st Half today has been pretty good, though I lost it for a couple of mins before the goal went in. There was an automated message then nothing for a few mins, before another automated message and the comms came back.

The other issue is that there is a massive delay... I got the SUFC text from the goal (they are normally delayed by around 2 mins) but I didn't hear the goal for a quite a few minutes, so much so that I thought that the text had been sent by mistake... sure enough it eventually came.

Halftime text came through at 16:49 but halftime on the comms came at 16:55

This has been infuriating to listen to. I've had the Colchester version on instead because of it and I can barely hear them anyway.

I've emailed Blades player through their contact form again. I will copy SUFC on their reply the Colchester goal was 7 mins behind the Blades Official SMS service, which in turn seemed like it was 1-2 mins behind the goal (based on Shoutbox groans) What a joke service

Thank you for your email.
We have raised the issue to the relevant team and its being investigated.

We will get back to you once we get the information from them.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused to you.

That's their reply 2 hours after I complained [at halftime] I'm not really expecting much in the way of a truthful answer, but at least they have stopped blaming my laptop/internet service, for now anyway . . . .

bit comical really .. i was watching sky sports and texted 'get in' to my friend as i knew she'd be listening on blades player.. it was the first she knew we'd scored!

Thank you for your email.

We apologise for the inconvenience you had on the match day.

However to confirm we did not have any issue on our end.

So that we can eliminate any browser issues that you may be experiencing, can you try downloading the following web browser and try accessing the player using it?

That's my reply!

I had the delay as well. I was checking the s24su twitter feed at the same time as listening to the commentary and it was a full ten minutes between the Cofie goal being tweeted and me actually hearing the goal.

...and due to a combination of shit signal and having to switch phones whilst also taking photos our update was slower than usual!

I stopped paying for it this season. Used to like the service but if they can't get their match day comms right then what's the point.

Between 8-12 minms delay on yesterdays comms - dreadful
I too switched to the Colchester comms that was as up to date as it could be - the bloke doing it was a real dour charachter though. Miserable - maybe he should do our commentary more often?

But how else do you get to listen to the games as an exile/ expat?

This year will be the first time since the PL season where I won't be getting back as often for games (for non SUFC related reasons) and I was hoping that Blades Player etc would finally catch up to modern times - better quality, more up to date and perhaps even live games on Blades Player... but not a chance.

Seriously considering ditching Blades Player and SUFC SMS service completely - I can get more and better updates from Twitter and the net and as OS and Blades Player doesn't really work on the iPad/ Phone, it means that I struggle to get anything on there when i'm not with my laptop. I think I need to find something to do between 4-6 every sat.
