On a different point, I've noticed you have been asking a lot for stuff like this lately.

Have you been back writing your own history of SUFC again?
 
I was at both games, unbelievable era to follow the Blades.

Over 40000 in Bramall Lane for the last two home games Blades 5 Cardiff (third place) 1 & Blades 3 Watford 0
That's why I'm still a Blade.

Great post, Edinblade. And I wholeheartedly echo your sentiments. I was at both games against the pigs too. The home game was my first ever visit to BDTBL as a 14 year old kid from Donny. I fell in love with everything. The team, the ground, the atmosphere, and yes...even the kit. There's never been better. And I still hope that I'll witness a team as good, an atmosphere as buoyant and a kit as vibrant. Not too much to wish for is it?

That is Gerry Young's Testimonial on 25th April 1970. 3-3 draw (Dearden, Currie and Staniforth the scorers) . I was stood with my dad in the Kop (nearer to the South Stand so we probably were in the photo). John Tudor is the Blade player. Wednesday players are ?, Harold Wilcockson, Tommy Craig and Gerry Young
 
Remember the Easter derby 71 well we gathered on the Peace Gardens and walked to the Sty where we went on the Kop right at the top, shame we couldn't complete a double that day. We had this big union jack with Sheffield United plastered across it, any other Beighton Blade remember?
As for the Gerry Young testimonial not to many Pork turned up due to their relegation - good old Ian Bowyer!! - Again we were right up at the top of the kop

Fantastic times indeed Edin - remember celebrating on the pitch before and after the game v Watford. Even Pig fans joined us!!
Happy days indeed
NB 38k v Watford still brilliant though considering there were virtually no away fans

Bert was also high up on their Kop that day, with a thin line of police trying to keep us apart.

Went with my Dad and a mate...still buzzing from the Cardiff game,and also the 3-0 Birmingham game with that brilliant brace from Gil Reece...Also remember me and my mate on the pitch at the end...great days.

Sorry, only photos in my head

1) John Tudor scoring the winner through Springetts legs for the winner at BL (nope, not googled, just memory so might be wrong with the players)

2) the TWAT of a referee in swillsboro, not giving us a blatant penalty in the 2nd half - was stood in an aisle way on the pigs kop so had a great view.........twat - we would have got the double.

55K in the ground and there you had very good reasons why the H'boro disaster happened a number of years later - it was too full - like bloody sardines. Just as a reminder to those who have never experienced stand up crowds like that - it was dangerous.

It's was a very important win as apart from bragging rights we had a poor start to the season and that win was
important as we had started to put it together helped us gather impetus.
We could do with such a win on Tues as the impetus gained((confidence) could maybe set us off on a run.Yes
it's only Burton but they are top of the league and it would give the team and us fans a big Lift . Two thirds through season and top of the league means they are there on merit
so it would be great to knock them over( I think we can) what we achieve from there who knows,but the play offs will still be there for the tsking

Not sure SB. .I think it looks like David Layne from looking at photos..I'll ask my Wendy supporting Brother in law when I next see him...1962 will be about the last time he went to a game.
