Popped down today with the lad. Decent crowd of over 4,000 inside John Street.

Sean Bean and Tony Currie managed the Blades. Bean looked a right scruff with long hair and tracky bottom wearing brogues as he patrolled the touch line.

Game was competitive to a degree with a mixture of some very fit players mixed with some ahem...not so fit. Also with some non footballers featuring for stand outs Hayles for Fulham (played better today and more effort than any time when he played for the Blades) and Tonge and Brown for United. Of course the latter two still play League football so would stand out. Morgan and Hayles both took it extremely serious with former making some crunching tackles and latter looked miffed with the contrived penalty at the end.

United actually had most of the ball and should have scored countless goals but the fact Fulham had a keeper who played really well. Tonge scored with a cross that evaded everyone and then Peschi scored for Fulham before Leigh Bromby scored an own goal.

After the break United missed so many chances but Peschi was now in goal for the Blades and was lobbed from half way from Barry Hayles who was taking it very seriously. Browny had around 7 or 8 efforts and him and Tonge continued to stand out but a late Bromby goal was all they had to show making it 3-2.

That was before a mystery sub came on in the last minute; Gary Sinclair was revealed to be the mystery man when his wig fell off - Howard Webb donned it instead. At the end a corner came in and Webb gave a penalty for a contrived foul. Sinclair took the kick and scored (don't think the keeper tried on this).

The game was decided on pens with Cresswell missing but Whitehall, Fountain and some one else missing for Fulham (all saved from Peschi). Tonge, Quinn and Bromby scored for United who won on pens.

United had following playing at some part

Leigh Walker - ex Youth keeper - guess we could not find anyone else to keep goal. MAde one great save though. Put some timber on since playing days

Leigh Bromby - Still looked decent and quite fit. Very grey these days.

Chris Morgan - Got stuck in and was competitive flattening Peschi and Whitehall amongst others

David Holdsworth - Another who had put some weight on. Always remember him as a cultured centre back and him him and Morgs two of our best in last 20 years so good them playing centre backs together.

Rob Kozluk - Only played early on. Had one run and shot.

Bob Booker - Came on second half and played left back and then centre forward. Maybe oldest and least fit of SUFC players. Had one shot just over.

Alan Wright - Looked one of fitter players when he came on.

Michael Brown - Just been given another contract at Port Vale. Ran the game for the most part. Should have scored but keeper thwarted him constantly.

Michael Tonge - Best player on pitch most of the time. Still a great passer of the ball. Looked a lot leaner tha he has for some time. Still playing for Stevenage.

Alan Quinn - One of fitter players and he showed some neat touches. Very grey now thought!

Mark Todd - Cameo appearance second half. Always thought he was an underrated midfielder under Bassett

Jon Harley - Played for us first half and got down flank well. Less effective for Fulham!

Chris Armstrong - Another who despite packing up due to injury seemed quite fit and mobile.

Carl Asaba - Only played first 20 mins wide right before going off.

Richard Cresswell - Still plays non league (Tadcaster I think). He played inside right and was one of main threats second half.

Brian Deane - Just played it simple and only played half an hour. Had a few neat interchanges with Agana; like the old days! Never thought I would see them play up front at the Lane together again!

Tony Agana - Remarkably fit for someone of his age (52). He showed some decent skills and unlucky not to score. Played over an hour.

Paul Peschisolido - Scored in Fulham first half but played in goal second half for us.

Fulham did not quite bring the All Stars mooted pre game with no Joe Calzaghe and no Jimmy Bullard. They did have Rufus Brevett and Barry Hayles and Jack Whitehall captained the side which also had ex Corrie/Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain and also George off Gogglebox. Peschi played a half for them and a half for us in goal; as did Jon Harley. A few others ex Fulham players played and the keeper was Sam Beasant, Dave's son; he was excellent and maybe the difference between the sides.

Great to hear that Armstrong was there today after his diagnosis multiple sclerosis, have been wondering how he is since having to retire. One of my favourite left backs of recent times.

Also good to hear that Morgan flattened Jack Whitehall. :)

CW was originally down to play but apparently Morgs had been offering £100 for Charity to the first player to take him out

I'm playing on Wednesday in a charity game and two ex players are, though not yet confirmed. Was hoping for Deane but sounds unlikely reading that. Reckon it will be Quinn and Todd again like last time.

In a few years time we'll be going to the Blades legend game to see McEveley and Hammond play. You mark my words!

Enjoyed it as much as the u21's last week, nice to see so many great ex players, one or two took it a bit too seriously, but it was fun to watch and for charity.Must single out Tony Agana who was fitter and more mobile than some of our 1st teamers
:)
a good afternoon and over 4000 attendance

Nice videos, just a couple of points from Pesch.

Sheffield.

Overtime.

We played at Cardiff not Wembley.

Joking aside, great vids, thanks.

The next event at Bramall Lane is the circus in June........awaits comments!

Thought Brown looked pretty finished as a proper player really, Tonge completely outclassed him as a footballer and Brownie resorted to trying to showboat and almost walk it into the net.

All of our left-sided players (except Booker) were a breath of fresh air compared to the first team, Harley was quick and determined, Kozzy was mobile and picked out a few good crossfield passes, Stretch was up and down the wing a lot, and Alan Wright was exactly like Alan Wright when he played for us. Holdsworth was guilty of more robust tackling than Morgan was really, Hayles was taking it far too seriously, but wanted Reg off for one wild lunge. Agana still has a good footballer's brain and got into some really good positions, didn't look like he'd actually kicked a ball recently though as all his attempts at shooting were very weak.

Fulham have a strange mix for their squad, the Gogglebloke was hopeless, Whitehall ran a lot, but didn't achieve much and Chris Fountain didn't seem to be much of a footballer. Of the actual footballers, Hayles had his best ever match at Bramall Lane, Brevett still looks a decent player and Sam Beasant was excellent in goal (he's just been released by Cambridge, but seemed at least as good as Howard and a better shot-stopper than Long)

Great days entertainment! Thoroughly enjoyed the match and the reminiscing of some fantastic players when in there prime. Tonge and Browny were still better than anything this seasons midfield has produced!! Some fit blokes still but quite a few have let themselves go overtime not to mention that Sean Bean looked like he'd slept in a skip last night. Still, fun had by all and money raised for charity. Brian Deanes daughter(?) stole the show at the end! Well done to all those who turned up and to the players and officials who gave up there time. I'm sure they enjoyed it as much as the rest of us

A thief an Alcholic and a paedo.

Kev's on the phone...

"Yes Kev, 'tell CW immediately.' I will. 'These are the sort of players we should be looking at... but don't tell Prince, he'll have them down as HT entertainment....'

Thanks Kev.

Ideal signings for a well established L1 club.

Loved watching the Peschisolido videos, let's hope Wilder can build a team similar to that of the 02/03 season.

Really glad I went. The ovation at the end for some proper, good, honest servants of the club was just what I needed to stop the memory of the Lap of Shame from spoiling my summer.

Family Stand's come on a bit since last time I was in it as well!

Hi Jehovah, I was meant to be playing Wednesday, but am abroad with Work. Gutted!

You're joking mate! Have you paid then? What's happening with your position?

Yes, paid, I have had to take the view it is charity! My brother in Laws mate is playing in my place and my Nephew is the mascot for the home team, I have insisted on having the kit afterwards! So there will be a bloke with Cave on his shirt, but its not me, I am in Auckland at a trade show, aaaaaaaaggggghhhh.
