Club beating sticks are a big seller I understand.

Maybe the club don't want to be accused of "mis-selling" the kit for merely half a season. When they will probably change the kit again in the summer.

If enough people were coming into the store looking for a particular item out of stock, I’m fairly certain that the club would order it in.

They probably have to order most of the stock in fairly large batches as a minimum order hence buying in for the sake of a few would cost them a fortune and would bear no profit. Supply and demand I’m afraid.

It’s a shame if people can’t get what they want, particularly kids on Christmas but it’s a business. If the demand isn’t there why would they order them in?

They've fucked up. That's the bottom line but they have probably been caught out by our fairly rapid upturn. They probably caught a cold on the disliked white shirt and the team it represented so under-ordered last time, had to re-order, probably over-ordered, ordered more this time but still got caught out by unexpected demand. It would be interesting to see how many more they've sold post-Wilder compared with previous season.

It's disappointing for kids that wanted them for Christmas but I'm sure it's something the club will try to avoid in the future.

Had some relatives from abroad a couple of months ago and I proudly took them into the store and they bought a couple of hundred quids worth of gear. It was the adidas stuff but without the badges but the assistant said no problem they'll iron them on at the desk. So we went to the desk and yep, they'd run out of badges. The excuse was that the kit man had taken the last batch. They had no idea when the new stock was coming in and the merchandise was returned to them, lost sale and no-one seemed to give a fuck.

Think about that for a moment. SUFC superstore and no SUFC logos for the merchandise. That's about as incompetent as you can get.
And the iron on logos are shite. Used to get proper stitching back in the day when a kit lasted more than six months.

It’s come to the point where you’re a mug buying at full price. It’s on sale after 3/4 months.

I much preferred the two years for a home kit, two years for an away kit and time each so a new one came out each year. I’d certainly be more inclined to buy one.

What happened to the retro kits they had in? I’d just decided to get a 4th division one and they’d taken them out of the shop (a while back - but not as far back as when we were in the 4th division, I’m not one to beat a grudge that long, plus I had one then but I was six).

I love threads like this. There’s definitely some constructive feedback that could be gleaned from this.

The Adidas kits have been very smart but that's about the only good thing about them. The badge is just an iron on patch rather than it being embroidered, a lot of the home shirts (at least in the first batch anyway) haven't been cut properly so they aren't symmetrical (I took mine back and got a refund on it), which means they look like cheap knock offs, the training gear is absolutely shit and has a cheap, screen printed, one colour badge on them (since when has our badge been plain white?) and the "casual" wear is awful. The clubs own produced stuff is better. I went in the other day to get something for my Dad for Xmas, saw a really nice polo shirt which was quiet clearly and end of line thing as it was reduced and they weren't many on the rack, I thought it was so nice that I wanted one for myself too but there were none inm y size :(

I understand the difficulty of a club trying to turn a profit on stuff like kits especially when the margin may be thin. But aside from a purchase of a cherry red hoody when Adidas got involved I have to admit things have not gone well. Wanted the purple shirt, not in sir, these are the examples and they will be in later for sale. Yes they were but for an XXL lad "later" amounted to got sold in a week before I knew they were there. Wanted to take a shirt abroad to a mate. Nope, all sold out. Wanted an hat. Sold out and alternative makes me look like a chav. Saw a brill crew neck leisure sweater but there was one in M and no plans to get any in after that one had gone. It was like " When its gone its gone and if we only get three in, then tough.

For me, at my age I don't look all that good in a football shirt and some of the non football leisure gear was quite good if it was restrained and with minimal advertising. However it seems that the club has bought minimal gear just to ensure there are no returns thus pissing off their supporters. Even my 11 year old daughter finds there is nothing left like a hoody nowadays.

Anyway, at the end of the day they can close the entire shop down and convert it to selling Chicken Balti pies if we go up. I would welcome wearing a chicken balti pie if we went up.

I agree with you 100% regarding the cheap white club badge on the polo shirts. I wonder if anyone at the club approves this stuff before it arrives in the shop.

I still can't believe a shirt costs £45! And I've had time to try and get used to the idea...
