United have re-signed experienced goalkeeper Paul Gerrard to provide back-up to shot-stoppers Paddy Kenny and Ian Bennett.
Gerrard - released by the previous playing management at the end of last season - has signed a 12-month deal to become a part of Bryan Robson's squad.
The veteran, 33, linked up with United for their Barclays Premiership campaign as a free agent in September 2006 after his release by Nottingham Forest that summer. He signed a short-term contract before he later penned a deal until the end of the season.
Beginning his career as a trainee at Oldham Athletic, Gerrard secured a £1 million move to Everton in July 1996, and later enjoyed a four-month loan spell at Bramall Lane in 2003.
Gerrard, who will provide valuable cover for Robson in the goalkeeping department, made two Premier League starts and one Cup start for the Blades last term.
