Nice piece Callum. I do hope that Billy is a success as his return looks nailed on (probably is even completed now)
I think NA will give BS the chance to shine just like every other player that we have or sign up.

I also think Higgo will impress this season.

Keep up the great Journo work ;)

I also have misgivings about this one. Some managers develop a myopia when chasing certain players and fail to consider alternative. - Clough's near-obsession with Chris O'Grady meant that we wasted almost a full season without a proper striker.

Proven goal scorer at this level. No brainer.

Yep no brainer . If his name wasn't Billy Sharp , if he wasn't the Fat Lad from Sheffield , if he wasn't a blade , with the tarnish of Bladey Blade , we would all be drooling , and thinking Adkins has pulled off a master stroke .

If Adkins didn't think he could do a top job , then we wouldn't even be thinking about him.

I just hope he signs , if Adkins is serious about getting him .

Why don't we just wait and see, it might be average opposition but che Adams is having a good pre season so far and I for one am looking forward to seeing more of him next season, he could yet be top scorer.

Where is this McNulty who is "strong and can hold the ball up.." It's certainly not the one we've got!

You know when you get a good new job and you go out and buy yer sen summat nice as a reward.... welcome home Billy...

Might as well put a cheeky bid in for Jonathan Forte while we're at it seeing as his move to the dingles has collapsed ................
ex Blades ............. check
ex Southampton .. check
ex Scunny ............ check
knows Billy ........... check
knows Adkins ........check

you know it makes sense

Hats off to Nigel and Simon Clough for signing a young gem. Che , Diego and young Reed will IMO all have a part to play next season , and all young players could flourish under Adkins . If you are good enough you are old enough . Adkins will manage the expectations and game time , to ensure burn out doesn't happen.

We have got some good exciting prospects.

We're hoping that he's not 18 anymore - as he was under Warnock.

We're hoping he won't be forced to play on the right wing - as he was under Blackwell

We're hoping that the fans will realise he didn't get a proper chance last time

Actually you are right, but is it the most important part of the team we need right now? The rest of it is fair play but we do already have forwards.

I think we all know its the CB positions which are the crucial pieces of the jig saw. As you rightly say we do already have forwards . He may see BS as the catalyst . Wonder if we will finish up with a lot of high scoring games , 4-3 , 4-2 , 3-3 this season . We wont beable to moan about being bored or not entertained.:) at BDTBL .

I have always seen Adkins sides as entertaining although I watched Billy play and score for Reading in a dull 1-0 win over Huddersfield a couple of seasons back and they were tedious.

I think we are all in danger of looking where the light is best though. Billy is easy because he is one of our own but is it as good as we can get? It may be but I would be utterly convinced we had stretched ourselves if we went for ALF as our striker for instance. He's proven quality and recently scored goals in the Premiership. Now that's a catch!

Point taken .just hope for our sake it works out this time and hopefully billies. then we would have a win win situation. nige/c relied on a lot of his former players. And got slagged off by fans for it. although agree with your point about being given a proper chance
