It's not a con, it's great value for money. Gives you 2 quid discount on matchday priced tickets. You get a free ticket when you've been to 5 and no doubt gives you priority over general sale tickets for the big fixtures. All highly commendable of SUFC.

When I've had just membership I never got the free ticket after I paid for five. Not saying they don't do it but they don't tell you that you qualify.

My fault for not querying it but I just assumed I'd missed some small print and I'm much too lazy to follow it up.

And while I'm at it, I never got a reply to my online message about season tickets either.

You clearly don't understand the category system that we've had since 2007.

The top category is A*, rarely ever gets used as it's playing teams we we can charge extortionate prices and the club are confident we'd still sell out, only used against Wednesday, Man Utd, Liverpool etc

Category A is a top rated match in that division where we expect a big crowd. We rarely use this category in league 1 as apart from some derbies there's no attractive match. In the Championship maybe 33% will fall in cat A

Category B was almost every match at league 1 level. In the Championship it should still be at least half the games.

I would expect cat A and B to be pretty flexible based on economics,
If we start well and look like selling out then the club will make more matches cat A
If we struggle and gates are low at cat A prices then expect more cat B matches, common sense really.

Cat C was a special £10 rate used early in the season to boost the crowd
Or used Tuesday nights when we expect a low crowd.

Our season tickets have sold so well that we're gauntanteee 21K minimum every match.
The club probably don't see any need for official promotional cheap ticket matches this season.

He emailed me back asking for my phone number so we could chat. He basically said that if I lived down south and only ever went to away matches without actually spending my money with the club by going to home games I wasn't really a good fan so this was a way of at least getting some money out of me. It was an odd response and I suspect quite appropriate for where the club was at the time.

I have had the membership when i used to work shifts, and it's decent value. Yes, you have to ask for the free ticket, but that's hardly an overhead. Plus you can order matches online and they just go on your membership card without having to visit the box office and queue for tickets. Other benefits include priority over general sale for away matches, plus i think you get discount in the club shop ?

Makes that £25 quid investment seem pretty decent to me.

If you want to go to a certain game, but don't have the brains to ask for your free ticket and the club sends you a ticket for another game, instead, are you counted in the attendances for both?

The insinuation was that I therefore should bugger off and support another team. The fact I've had a season ticket for 4 years previously is now irrelevant however. The problem with this scheme is that loyalty points for going to matches mean nothing if you don't have a membership of some sort.
