I'm not there and have not posted anything as I've not seen anything with my own eyes. Thing is with the media, they will only show you what THEY want you to see, there are pictures available online which show 3 England fans stood next to two Russian fans enjoying a few beers. Media won't show that.

So now you are allowed to comment about pics on line when you are not there.
How do you know it was not just some set up photo shoot?
Incidentally what I have heard is that there are 100,000 English fans out there (although I cannot verify that figure because I have not counted all of them personally ) and mosy are behaving like the people in your possibly photo shoot pictures.

The French routinely use tear gas as do much of the Continent. It's their country and how they police (there is at least one strike every week after all). Ditto to water cannons.

I think what some of the idiot England fans over there don;t realise is that if you act like an offensive knuckle-dragging tw*t they will just gas you first. I would suspect the locals have long enough memories to recall them trashing their city in 98. Probably weren't pleased about it.

Before blaming fans maybe people should learn from the hillsborough disaster....

Back then, people used an existing hooligan culture, staged press reports and false police claims to blame the fans. Now we know that was incorrect.

It's a shame some elements of the British media and also football pundits aren't learning from the above before making statements, before all evidence has been reviewed.

Not that I'm defending police actions over there, but surely the French authorities have enough to be worrying about during this competition than a bunch of idiots of various nationalities playing billy big bollocks-given what has happened in France over the last few years.

Perhaps the scenes we have seen for far is down to the large spike in Nationalism across Europe, all playing into the hands of those who seek to attack the West.

Having spent considerable time in different cities in France I couldn't agree more Marseille is a political powder keg and uefa have done themselves no favours having an 8 o'clock kick off in a city which is known for its intolerance, between two teams who have reputations for "misbehaving" abroad. Thats not to say I condone what has happened but it was almost to expected. I imagine there will be a few more isolated incidents as the tournament goes on but nothing like what we have seen in Marseille. As soon as the draw came out I said were not going to Marseille so we are travelling this week. People assume Marseille is much like Nice or Cannes being on the south coast but that really couldn't be further from the truth.

It sounds like the Police are doing naff all in the way of Policing correctly.
They watched the Russians gather, saw them mask up, saw them walk up the street and start attacking people just eating a meal. THEN the police use the gas and that affects the victims more than the perpetrators.

Are we surprised that time after time this happens when certain factors are combined. For some lads fighting in Europe is a right of passage, just nowadays the Police are ready for it and a lot of European hooligans are better at it. Life Is about choice and if that's your bag then go, just don't be surprised when it all goes off and you're in the middle of it. If you're an innocent then really you should think on about your holiday plans, it won't change...

Any trouble is automatically blamed on the English and the local police have no sympathy for the normal English fans caught up in the violence.

Russia won't be stripped of the tournament and any English fan who travels will be risking their life. The only protest governing bodies understand are ones that hit their pockets so foreign supporters should stay away and let the games be played in the backdrop of half empty stadiums.

I've been all over Europe and have even taken my wife and son on occasion to watch England over many years. Yes, i have seen some trouble but on most occasions there is none and the atmosphere in squares and bars is great. You can get caught up in it just as much in this country so maybe we should all stop watching the blades away? I'm not wanting to start an argument but the picture you paint suggests that it always happens which couldn't be further from the truth.

But fans of other countries will be going to games in packed stadia, creating party atmospheres and not bothering themselves about England, or Russia, or the French police.

What about sweeping statements that England fans caused it which you seem to be making?

Here's a question then. When the Russians and / or French fans came into the square and started attacking England fans indiscriminately (first hand picture from my mate who got back this morning), should those who fault back not have done so and just taken the beatings or run away creating a dangerous crush as happened in the stadium after the final whistle? Don't get me wrong, I've no sympathy with anyone who starts something and pays the price but if ever me and mine are attacked, I'm going to react and I'd think most would do the same......and I'm nearly 60.
