Hoolies check list
20:00 kff (actually 21:00 local time)
Saturday night match
Hot weather
Rivals with a reputation
Easy flights and train journey
Local factors
City with large diversity of heritage, major port for North Africa and long history of involvement in crime
Country on severe warning due to Paris atrocities
Police on tenterhooks and in large numbers following terror warnings
First game of tournament
Great ideas for the few
Congregate in central square
Probably sing about minorities, piss in fountains, take tops off, disrespect all and everything to do with local culture, celebrate all that is 'great' about England, meet up with other like minded persons, posture to the rozzers, throw plastic chairs (lethal aren't they?) and create a really unwelcoming atmosphere for people (including those from your own country but who just aren't the same as you)
Transfer holiday behaviour normally reserved for Kavos or similar to football tournament
Great ideas for the many
Follow the Welsh or Irish (I am English) if you want to go to a tournament
Spend the money on watching European league football in September to experience Euro football culture
Go down The Byron where there are TVs everywhere (including the Gents) and Abbeydale Moonshine
Save the cash to look forward to this seasons fleshpots of Wimbledon, Oxford and Northampton
Support only one team, United, and ditch all affiliations with any other team including England
Are we surprised that time after time this happens when certain factors are combined. For some lads fighting in Europe is a right of passage, just nowadays the Police are ready for it and a lot of European hooligans are better at it. Life Is about choice and if that's your bag then go, just don't be surprised when it all goes off and you're in the middle of it. If you're an innocent then really you should think on about your holiday plans, it won't change...
