'Blades Heaven' with Carl Asaba

I think the only problem with a ‘blades’ podcast, is too much positivity, especially like now, when the squad is doing so well.

Might be a good thing to have a small section on criticisms from supporters. Of course we are in a great position now, but my background worries remain the same. Injuries, (PH seems too dismissive for my liking. Academy, (Status still, has some downsides). Ground improvements, (An update wouldn’t go amiss). Hotel, (It’s a great asset). What’s the latest.

I would also include an update on injured players. Plenty to choose from JOC, Osborn, JLT, Billy? Of course you should keep the focus on positives. Asaba is a good choice, because he’s obviously a fan, and he talks sense too. Just include updates on stuff fans are interested in, as well as the stuff we all agree on!
Asaba is a fan - he definitely comes across as one now, but I recently listened to his interview on The Sheff United Way (from Sep 21) and whilst he clearly had affection for United, and his son was now a Blade, he didn’t give the impression he was an out-and-out fan. Certainly not the fan he appears to be now. I think being more involved with the club has rekindled his support. This sounds cynical, and I don’t mean it that way, I believe he genuinely is a fan, but maybe “born again”!
I could be wrong, of course.

Hi all, hope you don't mind us posting!

Thanks for posting this! As others have said it's a link to episode 2 - I can't find episode 1 (just a list of the daily FH episodes).

I listen to loads of great podcasts from the BBC (Radio 4 , BBC Sounds etc) on all sorts of things but a bit of (general) feedback - finding stuff is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes there's a download button, sometimes not. All seems a bit random.

The access to the club/players/staff & rights restricted media is obviously the biggest plus point of the podcast. It's a bit of a niche that only Radio Sheff can access realistically, although Sheff United way do an excellent job with the former players (and current owner 😅)

Thought Morgs' bit was excellent insight.

All in all, it's a nice 25 mins of blades content along with all the others that I listen to fairly religiously every week.

All the podcasts scratch a different itch for me and I like that.

Thank you -- here is episode one!

You are 100% correct about how difficult it is to find things. I'm pleased to say this will be changing very soon -- and it will become FAR easier!

Appreciate the feedback!

Morgs was terrific

Appreciate the feedback! We are definitely planning on having more supporter involvement (we are working out the best way to make this happen but have a few ideas, stay tuned).

Typically the injury updates etc will take place in press conferences but happy to introduce those subjects as topics as we go forward.

And hey -- enjoy the positivity! The Blades are doing great.
I am one of the most positive blades around. I have been convinced that we will get automatic promotion since the Reading win, and I’m a natural pessimist normally, like most long term blades!

It’s too easy to ask any ex blade what he thought of Ndiaye or Doyle, when we all agree that they had a great game.
The BBC have a formula based on success, and failing to ask hard questions on difficult subjects. Not looking to cause trouble, but easy paced interviews with easy questions is not the way to do it.
Most blades are happy we are doing well. But they also want answers to the hard questions.

Ask Bettis what’s happening with our current training facilities. What is the current plan for the academy? The Hotel? All side issues which seem to be overlooked because the squad is doing well?

I think PH is great, the best thing that happened to our club. For him to dismiss the injury problem is a serious issue. Please ask the right people the hard questions, instead of patting yourselves on the back for getting the easy stuff right. I am happy and I am positive, but the BBC should use its position to do more, and pose difficult questions to the right people.

It’s only feedback so you can choose to ignore me if you think I’m just being awkward. :)

Perhaps this not the right place
but what is Kieth Edwards doing now

Both have been fantastic listens so far. Asaba getting more and more confident with his punditry. Really looking forward to the Warnock episode.

Not at all -- feedback is most welcome!

I'm sure there will be episodes where challenging questions can and will be asked. We do interviews and press conferences too where those questions can also be asked -- so the podcast won't necessarily be the natural home for that. But certainly take your feedback on board.

With things going so well at the moment though, it's nice to ride the wave of optimism sometimes too :)

Found that very interesting and enjoyable but I hope that you can take on board some of the suggestions made by other people about what’s going on behind the scenes re the hotel, training ground, injuries and the general running of the club.
I‘ll keep listening with 🤞that the rest of the season is successful and your podcast remains upbeat, thank you.

What were that podcast called with Paul Walker? He had ex-Blades on it. There was a warnock one due on.

Definitely taking on all feedback but I would also stress again -- the podcast isn't necessarily going to be the platform where issues like that are going to be tackled. We obviously conduct interviews, press conferences and have a nightly radio show where these things can be asked about & discussed.

How often are these going to be released? Once a week? Really enjoyed the second one. Will be listening to the first pilot on my way home tonight.

Don't really listen to Radio Sheffield and FH any more (sorry) as it was very samish with the same people every week. I don't want to knock it too much as I know a lot of fans from other clubs haven't even got that.

I am glad (as others on here will be) that FH is evolving and I will be listening to your podcasts.

Please make yourselves at home and don't forget to post any ITK info that you have ;)

Really enjoyed it. Superb music too. I've never jigged whilst listening to Andy Giddings before

Always enjoy FH content. I've spent a lot of time in different parts of the country and Radio Sheffield's coverage of the teams in our neck of the woods is head and shoulders better than some of the other local media I've happened across on my travels.

Thoroughly enjoyed 'Moment of Truth' featuring Paul Warne which gives a 'fly on the wall' view of life as a football manager, so if the production of this is anywhere near that, I'll be tuning in regularly.

At the very least every fortnight, possibly more regular

Thank you!

Been a long listener for years, during the promotion season under Dave Basset, I was on holiday in skeggy. I managed to find a spot on skeggy beach that I could pick up radio sheff for the score at Leicester City, can't remember if you were doing live commentary at the time.

All this rational - we don’t want over-positive media is crap. I am more than 50 years at The Lane and when things are not positive the whole fucking world is wrong. So I don’t want to hear a realistic story now.

At present, we are top of the league, in Ili and Anel we have possibly the best 2 young players at this level.

I don’t want realism - life’s too fucking short - when things look good let’s celebrate - life is a roller coaster - let me enjoy the highs without looking down.

Go for it Sarbs. Go for it Morgs. Everything is great! We know they’ll tell us when it’s all gone to shit again!!

Any reason it's not downloadable on BBC Sounds App?
I was hoping to listen to both episodes on my flight tomorrow.

Apologies -- with it being a pilot, it's a soft release at the moment. It'll soon be on the Sounds App all being well and available wherever you get your podcasts.
