Blades fans mentality

so virtually 50 50
which is generally the chances of 11 v 11 in most games
or was when I was at school

the fact wednesdays played a game more
and not played huddersfield yet is hardly a cause for concern
will the Wednesday that turned up at Stevenage come for instance

Darren, that data just shows whether the higher or lower placed side won the game. It doesn't show who was in better form at the time. There is a difference.

For example, they were in a higher league than us when we played the Zenith Cup game in 1989, but I'dhardly say they were in better form. We were top of Division 2 and they were in the relegation places in the league above.

True, but I don't have the data for recent form!

Other things being equal though (and taking the Zenith game as an example), you would still expect a struggling first tier team to beat a promotion chasing second tier team at home and to that extent the result of the Zenith game was with form.

When that game kicked off, the records were as follows:

United: top of Division 2, P18 W11 D6 L1 F 32 A18
Wednesday: bottom of Division 1, P14 W3 D3 L8 F6 A22

The higher division side won, but the contrast in the team's fortunes is remarkable

This so-called 'optimism', 'glass half full' etc attitude that Wendy have had for many years (compared to us) probably comes down to the 'local' media. When the pigs are on RS, they get some screaming gobshite who is probably a fan. We get a lorry driver who is just bitter that United haven't found him a job.

Let's face it, when the radio and Star are forever making out that Wendy are but a small step behind Barcelona, some of the thickos from S6 will believe it. I saw the Stir's back page this morning and guess who was the main story on the back page? You've got it. And what was this earth-shattering news they wished to impart? 'Prutton (who?) is back for the derby'.

i don't think anyone is being deliberately negative..it is just that through years of neglect and total incompetence we are now crap.. the annoying thing is that most of us saw this coming and it could have so easily been prevented.. take the rose tinted specs off.. we are shit.. official.. check the league table..some of us don't like it and don't believe it necessary for a club of our stature

Just something that came to me in a blinding flash yesterday. We are as of today Yorkshires 7th placed club. This, in a county sans Prem representation. WE're Yorkshires No 7.

Anyone NOT even slightly missing some gruntle at that? Really?

Almost every Blade I know thinks we will lose - not just cos of form but also because you look round our team and you wonder who the characters are that are going to revel in the pressure of a derby and who is going to bottle it and hide.

Maybe it's my generation of Blades who started with the likes of Boxing day and Walsall, then went on to enjoy Bristol City, Palace, Pigs FA, Chelsea, Newcastle, Wolves, Arsenal, Liverpool, Wigan etc....Or maybe I just need to knock about with different Blades.

History shows we are right to be fearful of big games.

There's also an element of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best about it.

Pessimism is part of the culture of being a Blade. It works for me and means I'm generally right whilst getting the pleasant suprise of a big victory every now and then.

This will also be the first season ever when the highest placed South Yorkshire team will not be from Sheffield.

So we have won 2 games against form, doesnt bode well for Sunday does it?

We are in the third division and in debt. We were in the Premiership and not in debt. My Gruntle is most certainly missing Raul. But we obviously have a new class of super fan in Sitwell who cannot for the life of him work out why anyone would or could be negative. I just wish I held a level of blindness that let me keep forgetting the facts of the matter and replacing them with kittens and nice music.

A FOOTBALL CLUB IN DEBT , THERES A RARITY
The we were in the prem and not in debt bit , bit blinkered, we had the promise of money had we stayed up ,only thing it really achieved was upping our wage bill 275%, from 9 million to 26 million

I don't think we have ever agreed on one thing and your pathetic posts have just sunk to a new depth. Wankers like you are the reason many fans stop going and the reason for my original posting on this thread.

Ah well Bladesway....you have to understand that the author of this post has shed blood for United...and possibly others too....literally.
Now, if you had said that Warnock was a god and that Gary Cahill{Wednesdayite} was rubbish you would have a new bosom buddy.
He has a simplistic arguement that it's United, right or wrong, unless he says so.
And unless you agree once again he'll be round 'To explain'
To imagine that United have lost 50% of it's support because of the alphabet illustrates my point.

Bore off and leave me and the rest of the 'happy clappers' to enjoy watching Sheff Utd ,I know thats an alien concept to you but at least if we lose on Sunday you will have an orgasmic few days telling us all how right you are.

For me it goes back to the late 70's and early 80's when the fortunes of the 2 sides changed. Wednesday became a force and we were on our arse. I can remember the tide of new support that flowed to Wednesday. Some were Unired fans and mates of mine. Generally weak minded / glory seaking twats. I think there's something in the psyche of the type of fans they attracted, based on need for glory, and the psyche of those that remained Blades, ardent yet down trodden.

To a degree, we turned that tide, but we never had a hay day to attract the type of weak minded pussy that makes up lots of Wendy support. The type desperate for success, and with the ability to be fooled that a few straight wins in the third division equates to future European glory.

I think this is yours Sitwell. Now get back in yer box with a nice cup of cocoa. Then wonder why so many people feel this way about all things SUFC. When you can answer that then you will find peace. rather than being abusive to those who don't share your point of view.

Otherwise you can send me another abusive PM, like you did before. Remember?

You fucking liar ,not my style ,you have my complete permission to print it in full. As for the personal stuff I think you will find you started it smart arse ,I will gladly communicate by PM with you if thats what you want or have a drink at the match but don't throw unsubstantiated accusations around.

Ooh your a lively one. Your not buying this are you Sitters?

I'm backing Sitters on this.

I think it comes down to personality and mindset - some people are miserable and negative in life. Others try to look for the best in things and enjoy the good moments that come by. I'd much rather spend my time with the latter than the former. Some people prefer it the other way around.

I take that philosophy to the football, have a laugh with my mates and a few bevvies and enjoy it best I can.
