I've been following England Home & Away since the early 80s. I find it very very easy to compartmentalise supporting my Club & my Country. If a Utd player is playing for another country, against England, then of course I want him to play badly, be run ragged & lose. The only example I can easily recall would be Evans when he came on as Sub for Wales in Cardiff. I boooooed him to the rafters, as he was playing (that day) against my team. I'm used to arguments along the lines of - oooohhhh I support The Blades, it's The Blades, and only The Blades for me. Yeah, OK Big Blade. But it's not like I need to choose. No matter how far Knill & the other one take us, I don't think Utd will qualify for The EUROs. Club football - Sheffield United FC. International football - England. And, the non-football-fan argument - oooohhhh I don't know how you can support England, they're dogshit. Yeah mate, just like Sheffield United have been in the past. I'm a football fan, support my team through thick, but mainly thin. So, I'll have a passing interest in Blades playing for other countries. But, of course I'll want them to fail at the expense of my team, England.
