Any good stories regarding The Blades and work? I've made loads of crap excuses and blags up to get to various matches, I've had imaginary nephews and nieces that needed picking up from school/hospitals etc
When we played palace in one of the cups (can't remember which cup it was) in the 02/03 season inwas working nights but genuinely thought I'd booked it off after my 6th/7th pint I had it confirmed to me by my boss who'd been watching me from the other side of the earl of arundal that I was working that night. I thought he was taking the piss so I carried on my alcohol onslaught and then got a phone call at 10:30pm saying I was expected at 11pm, luckily the assistant was understanding and didn't seem to mind that I was nearly sawing my hand off, he eventually let me have an hour kip and also sent me home at 5am which was 3 hours early.

I have turned up bladerred at work after midweek away game's.
Most notably arsenal away in the re play of the game that never was, fantastic cup game.
Got home about 3am,drank all day for the game, drank all way home on the coach, and didn't go to bed.Turned up steaming at work.
Got sent home.
The end.

I lied about being sick so I could go to the Arsenal semi-final at Old Trafford in 2003.

Somehow I managed to bump into my boss out of a crowd of 60,000 people.

Luckily he wasn't too bothered. Plus I was 18 at the time so I didn't give a fuck about my job. I walked out mid-shift a few months later anyway.

You a surgeon?

Gaffer is a Chesterfield fan. Going to a match is a perfectly legitimate excuse for me working through dinner/late another night in order to leave early and go.

School not work related, but I remember my Dad taking me out of school in the 02/03 season to go to Pompey, got a note for my old form tutor saying I was off to the dentist.

Ended up getting there stupidly early, about half 5. Totally forgot the game was on Sky (Pomp were top and we were third I think), and after getting back home about 2am, I rolled into school with a big grin on my face after we'd beaten the runaway leaders.

Little did I know half the school, including my form tutor, had spotted me watching our players getting off the team coach. Luckily she was also a big football fan so I got away with it, but it was last time my dad wrote me a fake note, had to do it myself as I got older.

I seem to recall Mousey having a "bad back" for the Arsenal replay under Bruce.

There were a few Newfield exoduses for Tuesday away games. Funny how those dentist appointments fell...

When i started at my current work the rotas where dysfunctional & confusing to put it nicely as i had conflicting contract hrs & rota hrs. So i was at the match work rang me but i couldnt hear them on other end so after a few hellos. Just said I CANT HEAR YOU & cut them off

Last season when we played crewe on good friday that was a tight squeeze match finished at 5pm i had to go from bramall lane to crystal peaks be changed & start work by 6pm

But Im usually ok for these because in my interview at my work they said you'll be contracted to saturday or sunday i was completely honest with them & said can i be sunday as i go to the football on Saturday. Got to prioritise :D

Started my new job the day after Bury away this season, safe to say I wasn't in the best of states!

Went on nights after the match on Saturday and arrived 7 minutes late. Nobody said owt. Mental.
