any team we put out wont be less fancied the one which won 1-0
in fact theres 7 possibly playing again

bet you thought wednesday were going to crush us at the lane when we won 2-0
Hard to argue against that being a vastly better team than the one we're likely to put out Saturday though, surely? It's much more settled for a start. In the last fortnight we've ended up embarking on a full rebuild more or less by accident.

Osula hat trick first half hour

Sold to Burnley in the 45+9th minute because he won't sign a new contract

Osula hat trick first half hour
Prince sells the club to Osula in the 45+9th minute
Osula sells Baldock to AEK Athens for 11m Euros in the 54th minute
The Prince comes on as substitute for Ben Osborn in the 63rd minute
Palace sign Baldock from AEK Athens in the 78th minute
Baldock scores four in the last twelve minutes (+8 add on minutes)

I think they'll be deflated, rather than revved up.
I agree with this. Normally when we’re faced with adversity, it’s from outside sources and it can galvanise the squad to prove the doubters wrong. This time it’s self-inflicted from the boardroom and I think it will have damaged morale and created a lot of uncertainty. Hecky’s going to have to work hard to pull the squad together for this one and I’m sure he’s hurting as well.

its 2 players who both asked to leave , not inflicted by the board , at least tell it as it is

integral those players were especially the bonds, built in previous battles, with the likes of Egan, Fleck, Norwood, Basham, Baldock and the like
But you specifically talked about big personalities, and that's what I replied to.
You've mentioned these players and they are all here and big influences.

Illy is a huge loss to everybody. Sander will split opinions a bit more.
But they are bunch of men who've been through a lot and will all step up. The crowd should do the same. We have a battle on our hands and we need 30,000 as well as the 11 to all do their bit.

So you don't rate anel the other Robinson and our keeper or any of the new players slimani traore

No I'm not losing my marbles. The players who start on sat will be so revved up, hecky and macca will have them well up for it.

Palace will expect to walk it cause of our transfer shannanigans and we'll boss the majority of the game. Why? Cause the crowd will put a rocket up their back sides, new lads will want to impress and palace will panic.

Then we'll get battered at forest.

There, heard it here first.
I don't know what's funnier8, the idea of us beating Palace after our piss poor and toothless pre-season on and off the pitch, or that you think we'll score 3 goals with our current midfield and strikers.

Given the frustrations of pre-season on and off the pitch, if we get off to a bad start and concede inside ten minutes and then watch players give the ball way cheaply, or constantly pass backwards, the sound during the match won't be roaring on and cheering, it will be moaning and groaning, and probably boos at the final whistle of we lose by two or more goals and in a pathetic manner. The crowd will be coming to the match apprehensive and probably pessimistic despite some people's "true bladeness" due to how piss poor the team and squad is looking for Saturday. It won't take long for the frustrations to come to a head during and after the match, especially when this is one we NEED to win to give us even a slight hope of defying the inevitable and possibly staying up.

I suspect (sadly) that there is some truth in that! The performance on the day depends more on the managers tactics and motivational skills.
If the starting X1 can be persuaded to play for the club, it could surprise many.

I base this on the known abilities of our manager, and him persuading players that all the background noise is cancelled out by Heckinbottom’s insistence that all that has happened so far is above his, and their pay grade. Essentially shut out the background noises, and do what they are paid to do. Play football and not the media and gossip.

Well, reports yesterday suggest that in Sander’s case you might be completely wrong on both counts.

I don’t think we know how “it is” yet.

I believe we can win, but not 3-0. Palace destroyed Leeds 5-1 at Elland Rd back end of last season with a clinical display of counter attacking football, we need to be patient and try and nick something, if we get too horny and leave ourselves exposed at the back they will punish us.

Edit - here are the match highlights, and Zaha didn't score so I assume Palace still have the same players available

Beer, sun and first game of season excitement will have the place and players buoyed. Drink it in and enjoy.

Prediction: 2-0 down before HT and the Lane goes flat as a pancake 🥞

There is more chance of me getting a blowie off Margot Robbie outside Greggs ont Moor than us scoring 3 on Saturday.
I am seeing Margot later so I will tell her not to turn up at Greggs. I think she will be disappointed ☹️

Will the moaners and fearmongers be so vocal about if we do win?
Yes. Because a win will be despite the board not because of them.

We won’t win by the way.
