Well, I'll reply to you Silent. ;)

Do you remember/did you go to United v Hull in 1971? A night match against fierce promotion rivals, which we lost. It seemed we'd blown promotion, but it came good.

Kop was packed with Hull fans, Ken Wagstaffe scored for them, Trevor Hockey had a titanic battle with Ken Knighton (dirty bastard, later to manage Wednesday) and the ref. stopped play and gathered the teams in the middle, urging them to cool it. 1-2, I think.

Had some good tussles with Hull down the years - on and off the pitch. Getting off the train behind the old Boothferry Park, Simon Stainrod scoring a cracker in 3-2 to us, Keith Edwards scoring against us in his Hull debut and that late, late Shipperley goal in 2006.

Yes, I remember that night match in 1971. It was re-arranged from the previous Saturday cos Hull were playing in FA Cup 6th Round match against Stoke (Wagstaff gave Hull 2 goal lead before Terry Conroy and John Ritchie (2) made it 3-2). Reece scored early on and it was such a bad tempered game so midway in the 1st half, the ref blew his whistle to half play and called over all the players to the centre circle then telling them to "cut out" the rough stuff. Ken Knighton, John Kaye and Chris Simpkin were still kicking our players for the rest of the game. Simpkin equalised in the 2nd half before Wagstaff's late winner. 42,000 plus crowd it was. After that we played at QPR losing 2-0 (and Dave Powell was carried off, never to play for us) but we scored 2 in the last 2 mins (Woody and Hemsley pen) and set off on a long unbeaten run until that game at Old Trafford in October
