Let’s not pretend Blackie wouldn’t decorate the pavement with Hendrie’s innards if he did.

Not sure why the useless little squirt thinks he’s a big man all of a sudden.

You hear plenty about Blackie. But who from? Overpaid and always injured Lee Hendrie? Off the rails Keith Gillespie?

I don’t doubt that some of his handling of players could have been improved but perhaps those casting dispersions can look a little within as well!

The only time I met Blackwell was in Trinidad and Tobago over a few beers as he sat down and gave up a couple of hours chatting football.

You can only take people as you find them. Everyone there was friendly and polite and that was reciprocated. Perhaps not being that way doesn’t get the reaction some of these ex-players want it to.

Gillespie said he picked on Cotterill and Sharp. Cotterill confirmed this. Not sure Sharp has ever commented.

Of course, Cotterill has his own issues.

He was widely disliked at Leeds.

Someone can find the receipts but there’s numerous examples on various podcasts etc of players saying just how much of a cockwomble and a bully he was.

I met Blackwell once at Leeds United training ground after refereeing an U16s match between Leeds and Man City, I was 17/18 and there was a knock on the door and it was Blackwell coming to say that I thought I had a good game, he had been there scouting with the academy manager at the time which was another blast from the past in Adrian Heath. Although I was never one for praise from coaches as not really expected it was nice for him to go out of his way. The only other one that ever spoke to me during that time was Gus Poyet when he was assistant to Dennis Wise. I remember putting my boots on in the boots changing area they had, it was the international break, so there were a few Leeds 1st teamers in and Wise was too busy trying to get rid of the academy kids so his guys could put their boots on but Poyet sat next to me and was chatting asking how I was enjoying thing etc, real top bloke.

This lad went on to have a decent career so it’s not like he was bitter about ‘not making it’.
