Billy's contract

Billy is apparently upset that Ched has come in as he is used to being top dog in terms of goal scoring.
Billy also wants to remain top earner but his value to the team is not seen to be as big in the championship and we know we will have to bring in better players at subsequently more money to enable us to move forward.
Also v upset that cheds transfer was leaked before end of season as it took shine off the teams successful campaign but little or nothing we could do as the leak was from the chesterfield end, by a guy who in his position should know better.

Still, its close season and Deadline Day is weeks away...mountain out of molehill, no doubt, long forgotten by the big kick-off.

I'm sorry but I just can't believe any of them points you have made. Billy has just done what he set out to do and got his boy hood club to the championship, there is no way he was the biggest earner at leeds and can't see him been worried about the money when he is playing for his boyhood club in the championship. Also can't see him been upset about maybe not been the top goal scorer for us next season. Maybe the ched leak might have annoyed him at first but I am sure he will have got over that by now he is a professional and has calmed down a lot to what he was before and wilder knows this and has seen this from him hence making him captain. I just can't see any of them points been true if they are i am very surprised. No matter what the issue is if there is even one which I personally can't see but I don't know what is going on behind the scenes but if there is I am 100 percent confident him and wilder will sit down and sort this out long before kick off of our first game.

Is Bert spouting ITK fact or just Berts opinion....only Bert knows..?

Billy has to face facts that he will not be top dog forever and players are going to come in that threaten his position or who earn more dough....now that is a fact!

Why is it Ched that's put his nose out unless you know something we don't? Could just as easily be Jags coming in now Everton have bought every player in the world and Wilder has told him Jags will be on twice as much, plus he will get the captains armband....?

Or more than likely his contract extension is on half his current money....nothing more complicated than that!
 
I seem to remember Billy being sold the second time was due to the Evans signing and him being made surplus to requirements to accommodate our record signing on his big fat wages.

I wouldn't blame him if he were a bit hacked off and felt put out. Evans for some bizarre reason commands unconditional love and adulation from a certain set of our fans, which Billy doesn't seem to get despite him loving the club as much as anyone else, captaining us to promotion, and being an all round top bloke

Billy took a 50% pay cut to join United. An ITK (at the time) by the name of NoPigFansInTown, put that fact on this board a long time ago. It was subsequently confirmed on a "Sheffield Live" discussion with Alan Biggs. Why could Billy be upset? Well, I imagine his long term contract offer wasn't what he was looking for. How much would you pay Billy, and what length of contract would you give him? Remember ,we already have him contracted for another season, and he's 31 now.The guy has already achieved modern day hero status.

That's just about the first sensible comment we've had on this topic so far.

If Billy is upset then let Billy go and get a better contract somewhere else. That's all there is to it really. I don't mean that nastily at all. I think he's done great for us last season and I'm pleased the club have offered an extension to his contract. But if it's not what he is looking for then fair enough - go elsewhere and get a better one. We have to plan for the future and offering big money to players at the end of their careers isn't the way to go unfortunately.

I see what you're saying but if this is the alleged problem hope they can find a position both he and the club are happy with. He's likely to remain a great option for a good few years with the type of game he plays.
 
Billy took a huge paycut to come to this club, he perhaps feels that he wants some of that cut back seen as though he was a big helping hand at getting us to where we are today?

I would suggest the contract he signed (and was happy to) when he joined us included bonuses etc that rewarded him for getting us to where we are today.

Good point, i'm just speculating if indeed there is anything in this rumour.
 
Do players get paid more for being club captain?

Let's face it, it's not just Billys performances on the pitch that need to be rewarded for last season , it was his efforts off the pitch too.

Imagine the damage it could do to team spirit if the man who brings it all together is wazzed off with the club
 
I have a bit of intel on this also.

"Where u erd dis pal" ? Can't say but this is what I heard.

Billy (and also Coutts and Basham) had a "gentleman's" agreement that wages would go up on promotion to the Championship. They would go up to the level they where previously on at their respective Championship clubs prior to joining the Blades. Substantial increases in all cases.

The club have not kept their "gentlemans" agreement and they are all about £2k per week light.

So I suspect SunJi ain't bullshitting in this case.
