Billy Sharp

They do a few videos on him on the United channels and stuff. To me he just seems like a local lad who got in to playing football. Doesn't seem like he let's being footballer go to his head. Suppose that's how he promotes himself but he seems pretty genuine.

That being said it's likely a bit difficult to get above your station when you're known as the "fat lad from Sheffield"

The more I hear from Billy and see of him both on and off the pitch, the more I like him. He’s a very genuine bloke and a club legend. Players like him are few and far between.

He’s a special player. Proper goal scorer and a genuine nice bloke. He should rightly be lauded as one of our best and cannot fathom those who slate him continually.

I was calling for him to be replaced last night as he didn’t do a great deal up until his goal but plenty have made careers out of that and his contribution last night was indicative of the woeful performance by our midfield.
His overall game has improved in the past 3 or 4 years but he is still predominantly a finisher in the box.

I maintain that if we create chances for him, he will keep scoring. I genuinely believe that he could have played consistently in the premier league for a team that creates chances if he had been given the chance earlier in his career.

A club legend and we are lucky to have had him.

That pic is from earlier this season. The lad there is a top Blade, absolutely epitomises everything about ‘us’.
It was last night mate. He made a beeline for Jake earlier in the season (was it against Derby?) and again last night- says he's been his biggest fan for years. He got him the photo from earlier in the season framed and met him with it too.

We all know Billy went through a bit himself a few years back. I guess when you do, you either get angry and bitter or it focuses you, and you gain a bit of perspective and compassion. Top, top feller- must be an absolute arsehole to play against but does us bloody proud in all he represents 💪🏼

I to find it puzzling hearing so called blades slagging him off .I wonder at times if they are under cover pigs making trouble. What is there to dislike about a center forward playing for your club that just scores goals for fun? being the only one at the club that scores for fun to. Strange.

He is a living legend. I am guilty of suggesting at various points that he may be past his best, and we should look to replace him. He continually shoves any such sentiment back down my throat, with interest.

I just wish it had worked out for him at the lane early in his career. He could have been a 1-club player all his life.

EDIT: He still owes me a pint though. The bastard 😂

I used to think like that - felt really sorry for him when he came back under Adkins and we were shit. Thought we’d missed out on his best years. Then he lived every Blades fans’ dream during our ascent to the Premier League and continues to perform to this day. I wouldn’t bother trying to write him off - he’ll always contribute something to the team until the day HE decides he wants to hang up his boots.

A Blade who is living his dream
To have a Sheffield lad write his name in Blades folklore, and score as many as he has is unique, and unlikely to be repeated for a long long time
A living legend who could have just 12 Blades games left

Billy is hardworking but likes to let his hair down when he can. He's polite but doesn't suffer fools either. On top of all that he has lived through a tragedy that most of us couldn't even begin to imagine.

It's pretty much the blueprint for great character, courage and substance.

Any excuse for me to post this picture again, which I see every day in my house.

Met Billy, with Mrs G, and he is a genuinely nice lad. He is everyone of us Blades fans, actually living the dream. The lad seems to get fitter as the seasons go by, and who else pops up to score, just when it's needed?

Like I said on our first game, back in the Premier League, how fitting was it that our first goal was scored by Billy Sharp!

14 and counting, in the Championship, at 36 years old. Would not bet against him finishing the season on 20 either, which would be a phenomenal achievement, even for a man that's made a career out of scoring goals for fun.

Every player who has scored more than him in the champ this season is at least 5 years younger than him as well.
