Give him the remaining games. With promotion confirmed sadly it means Sharps time is up with us. It will be interesting to see where he goes, I doubt he will want to go far. Barnsley or Rotherham maybe?
Although wages might be a problem given his past history with Donny, that could be a great option. In League 2 and a bit stale one final season of graft, he would be firing in goals there. Jon Stead ended up at Harrogate so you never know.

Donny was my first thought, think he was very fond of his time there I just figured it may be too much of a drop for him to be interested. He's that age where I think it would have to be something interesting for him to not retire.

That is true, don't get me wrong definitely can do a job at Championship level still possibly a Huddersfield type, I suppose he will see what offers he gets but in all honesty would love him to have a coaching role with the club and he deserves a full ground standing applause for a fantastic career if it finishes this season with us or not.

1 more year before he hang his boots I say. I can see him staying put here.

Played fantastic against spurs, a couple of important goals against Huddersfield and Wigan, and Wrexham for that matter but other than that he's way way way past this level. I wouldn't disagree with playing him for the rest as a send off, I can't see much point in him leaving to play in league 2 so maybe there is a coaching role if he's up to it.

If we’d not been promoted I’d probably have said it’s time to go as we would need players for 46 games a season plus cup games…

But for the Prem, I think Billy gets more time and space, he’s a great athlete and can come off the bench and do some damage. He just needs the supply. He’s not losing pace.

Give him a years contract

I don't care what the debate about his future is. He came down a league to get us out of league one and by all accounts took a pay cut to do so. For that alone he's a legend. The success since means he goes down in blades folklore after a few false starts in his previous spells.

Appreciate it. This stuff is rare.

I've been looking at Billy's early career. He got his first Blades squad number in the 2004/5 season, but played for our youth team before that. His first appearance on the teamsheet was on the bench in the away win at Preston on Aug 20, 2004 (Steward McCall was also a sub that day). He was also an unused sub in the games v Stockport (H, LC) West Ham (A) Wrexham (H, LC) before finally making his debut as a sub v Watford on Nov 13, 2004.

He was sent on loan to Rushdon and Diamonds in January 2005, where he scored 9 goals in 16 appearances, including his first hat trick v Boston Utd. He returned to the Blades before the end of that season, coming on as a sub for Danny Webber in our 4-2 loss at Wolves in the final match.

That summer he went to Scunthorpe, where he scored his first-ever goal in his debut v Forest away. Scunthorpe won 1-0. He ended up scoring 24 goals that season. With Scunthorpe now relegated from the national league, he might consider finishing his playing career there, maybe in 2024/25, perhaps in a player /coach role.

I wonder of any footage exists of Billy playing for the Blades in the 2004/5 season.

He’s far too good for that level. Should carry on playing as high as he can which would be championship/league 1. He may not have scored many goals this year but in many games he’s offered more than McBurnie with his work rate and press. Personally I’d keep him for another year.

If he was playing for our youth team in 03/04, next season will be 20 years since his debut as a (junior) Blades player.

He's hardly going to get any game time with us next season, so if he wants to have a couple more playing seasons he needs to more down the divisions.
I'm sure they'll be no shortage of suitors.

More time and space? Those top level defenders are dead slow?

Think the icing on the cake today would be Billy scoring...
Doesn't really matter about the result so it would be nice to witness something worth celebrating as he definitely shouldn't be having any minutes next season.
Get him signed up as a coach!

For me it’s time, he didn’t cut it in the Prem previously, he’s not going to do it now.
I think it's harsh to say he didn't cut it.

To be frank Wilder shafted him really.

He'd just banged in 24 goals to get us promoted yet Wilder I suppose being seen to be 'ruthless' fucked him off in his prime. I still can't forget Wilder bringing on James fucking Wilson instead of Billy vs the Pigs at home.

Am I out of order? You need to score goals. You've a guy who got 24 for you and got your team promoted on the back of his goals. You then replace him at every opportunity, unsuccessfully and for a lot of money. Callum Robinson starts ahead of him; he's never been a centre forward. Oliver Burke starts ahead of him; he's never been a footballer. Lys Mousset starts ahead of him; yes he had a purple patch for a run of games but he's never been a professional athlete. All these guys Wilder couldn't wait to shove ahead of the guy who got his team up. Any other club, who would be putting their top scorer on the bench for the first game? I think Billy was done the dirty there and Wilder should have been far more grateful.

Take a look at his goals per game in the PL. It's as good as anyone of not better than all of them.

For me he stays on. Yes, he might be 5th of 6th pick but I'd rather be calling on a (hopefully) 250 goal league scorer then some kid if we are short on numbers.

Teams play on the front foot in the premier league leaving more space for strikers.

Championship sides sit back against us

The problem is getting the ball to him

That wilson v pigs decision was fckin horrible. Wilson is bobbins, was back then as well. Really strange call.

Nothing would please Bert more than to see him score number 250 today but he's only scored twice this season.
The notion that he'd be an asset on the field at the age of 37/38 in the Premier League is bonkers.

We need Iliman to win a penalty second half facing the Kop. All he has to do his dance along the edge of the area and some poor PNE defender will get bamboozled into bringing him down.
