He isn't a right wing back, so they wouldn't all have fell to him, and he doesn't have the pace Burke does so the chances he had/created would've never even happenedSaid exactly the same, he's deffo not the answer but would have buried most of those chances tonight
a 25 stone billy sharp would have still put a couple of them awayHe's too fat.![]()

I think we can both agree that if Billy (and I'd be confident) we're in similar positions to the brewster/MCB misses, he definitely scores.Agree. It's a really dumbed down argument to say "if Billy plays he bags all of those."
If Billy plays we probably don't get up the pitch and create half those chances.
Aye. He'd av ate em.a 25 stone billy sharp would have still put a couple of them away

No smoke without fire, or bullshit
I know this has already been dissed but not harshly enough in my opinion.Agree. It's a really dumbed down argument to say "if Billy plays he bags all of those."

Bollocks.
We had WBA pinned inside their own box for much of the second half.

You CM are talking utter utter bullshit in this scenario, there were players on the pitch v West Brom who would give Hammond a run for his money invisibility wise and once again I can only point you back to the Wolves game where Sharp was one of the most effective players on the pitch, he is always involved and is a captain which we don't see from anybody else. I don't know what he's done wrong, possibly taking the penalty v Fulham but this guy is Sheff United through and through and more importantly still very influential on the pitch.
Come on mate. You're telling me it's harder to score from 3 yards out? That might be true (though it's debatable) but it completely misses the point I was making.
To engage you on your point, it's not as easy finishing chances at this level. Defenders are better, you have less time. You have to strike it earlier and more accurately to beat the keeper.
You have to find room for yourself in the box against better defenders. A good poacher in the Championship is not always going to be able to translate those skills to the PL.
Again, this was in large part due to the forwards that were on the pitch.
I'm not debating that some of our players are poor. Or that Billy Sharp is Sheff Utd through and through. But I think it's too simplified of an argument to suggest you just swap him in for one of the others and all of the sudden we're in the goals. Football doesn't work like that.
Last season when McGoldrick kept missing chances, people kept suggesting swapping him out for Sharp, completely missing that the reason those chances fell to McGoldrick were that he roams around the field and is difficult to pick up.
Sharp doesn't have the pace to go in behind, or the physicality to mix it with back to goal.
I love him to bits, but he's not the answer. Not at this level.
If you look closely, the ball bounced off his shin, not his foot. Difficult to direct the ball into the net in 0.1 secsCome on mate. You're telling me it's harder to score from 3 yards out?
That's one chance. What about the other two? Granted not three yards out, one near the penalty area and the other literally 2 yards out.If you look closely, the ball bounced off his shin, not his foot. Difficult to direct the ball into the net in 0.1 secs
Understandable comments about him but due, I believe, to him being asked to play holding the ball up as a target man. That’s not his game. He thrives on balls being whipped in and Burke IMHO would be an ideal partner for him. He also wins a lot of free kicks. If we could find anyone capable of delivering a decent dead ball we’d capitalise on that as well.I love Billy, but let's not pretend people on here weren't saying he was "not good enough" when he missed sitters on the last day against Southampton. Or after his performance the first game of this season against Wolves.
Goal scorers hit the ball with the top of the foot. Not saying any of our players are crap but some of them are playing crap.If you look closely, the ball bounced off his shin, not his foot. Difficult to direct the ball into the net in 0.1 secs
i think chris had one eye on the championship when he gave billy and goldie 2 year deals plus the 2 lads from derby all of which would be good enough in the championship its as though he thought this might happen this seasonThe Sharp situation is a bit of a weird one. If CW was never going to play him, surely giving him a new contract (he will be one of our highest earners) was not sensible from a wages/money point of view. CW had a mare of a window/pre-season.
But yes, Billy would have taken at least one of the chances missed lately.
Hahaha from S14 actually. And the reason he hasn’t scored this season is because he does not get picked to start, and rarely comes on as sub.Another fucking armchair expert from 5000 miles away !!!
UTB
He had one game where he missed the target before he was discarded, how many games has the present strike force have to play missing the target before they are dropped?Yes Billy is getting on a bit but we are in the shit and i can not think of anyone else at the club who can be relied upon to hit the back of the net apart from him.Not ideal I know but he is all we have to give the fans any hope of seeing a bloody goal.I love Billy, but let's not pretend people on here weren't saying he was "not good enough" when he missed sitters on the last day against Southampton. Or after his performance the first game of this season against Wolves.
And when was the last time you physically attended a game of ours ?Hahaha from S14 actually. And the reason he hasn’t scored this season is because he does not get picked to start, and rarely comes on as sub.
As your knowledge and experience are therefore greater than Wilders, I’ll leave you to it.![]()
Could be 6 figures and it wouldn’t make a flying fuck of a difference !!!Are we into double figures yet for people who think Sharp should play?
