For all the superlatives flying around about all the other players, rightfully so as well, i just want to give the skipper some praise as well.

I thought he put in a real shift, never stopped running all afternoon, getting in the right places and did what he always does and took his goal clinically.

Don’t know why but some people are quick to pick up his limitations, and there is a couple, and some people dismiss him because of his age, and others because he has never played higher than this level for any length of time, but we should just appreciate him for what he is.

He is a very good, solid and hard working professional, he is a real talisman and the focal point of the team. I know supporters of others sides hate him as when they see his name on the teamsheet they think not him again, as he always seem to score against them.

In my personal opinion, although he is getting older, and he won’t go on forever, I still think he has another 5 years left in him at least. His game isn’t just about the physical attributes, but also intelligence and knowing where to be at the right time. I can remember Kevin Phillips still being a top striker at the age of 40, and I don’t see any reason why Billy Sharp can’t do similar.

I’m just glad that he is ours, one of our own, and we are lucky to have him.

His limitations are only apparent when the team isn't quite at it.

In League one, when he scored 30 goals, I highlighted that he was missing a lot of chances which were easier than some he scored.

I don't see him missing those chances now, his stats are showing this.

The last two preseasons he's worked his nuts off to come back better and leaner.

He's in as good shape now as he was when he was 20.

He’s my favourite ever Blade.

I hope he gradually reduces his playing duties over the next few seasons and retires a hero. Then if he wants... goes on to coach a long line of future England international strikers coming out the academy. Eventually succeeding Wilder after he’s taken us to the premier league and European qualification.

One can dream eh.

I think you’ve got it nailed with the comment about the last two pre seasons.

There is a lot of footballers who would be slowing down at this stage of their careers, not doing what he is doing.

I’m biased. Hands up on that one. :)

If I was a championship manager who felt his squad needed a good all round striker, that would as near as GUARANTEE goals at this level, with the right players around to support, he would be high up on my wish list.

If this sort of form continues until January, I don’t doubt other Championship managers will feel the same way.

Honestly, bar aerial abilities, he has developed in to the complete CF.

Well done Bill.

He's had a fantastic start to the season. Well in, Billy.

I feel full of Bladey Bladey Bladeness today, got up this morning snd the first thing I did was to drone on to the young un about how brilliant we was yesterday, then I’ve took him to play for his team this morning wearing my Blades shirt, I’ve been rambling on to anyone who will listen about the Blades this morning and now I’m having a Bladey Bladey laze on the settee watching the cricket, and thinking about having a nice cup of coffee in my special Bladey Blades cup.

Only Sheffield United can dismiss a player who has a goalscoring record similar to the likes of Rooney and Ricky Lambert. We’ll miss him when he’s gone, and dare I say it: Billy Sharp is a blades legend.
fans of other clubs i speak to would love to have him

I can't speak highly enough about Billy, he could've easily taken the easy route as you say, perhaps earning a big USA pay day playing with the likes of Rooney.

He's turned down moves away and wants to play for the club, he wants to be here and is doing everything to stay but not just that, he wants to be the best he can be. Its fantastic to see!

Nah his legs have gone and he can't hack it at this level....

His hold up play is getting better every season, as it should with experience I guess but it’s really made his all round game better. Even when he’s not scoring he’s contributing.

I’ve always said we don’t need a target man because Billy can do the hold up role. He doesn’t need the height because we shouldn’t be lumping it up front to a big man in the hope of winning headers anyway.

He is, and always has been, an instinctive poacher and goalscorer. He's not the quickest by a long way, but he gets himself in the right place at the right time more often than not. If he starts and scores, generally speaking, we win. He is deservedly a blades legend, and in future years I hope he will be spoken of in the same breath as legends of years past.

Hope he smacks in 30 again this year and leads HIS team to promotion.

Na na na na, he's a blade and he's a blade.

We don't need another striker. Play to Billy's strengths and he will do the scoring. With the addition of Norwood, it has allowed others to blossom (Fleck, Freeman) to supply Billy with more of what he needs.

Careful.

Fully agree with all the praise heaped on him above but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the quality of his goal yesterday.

It was a goal that is the preserve of strikers of the very highest quality - straight out of the Gerd Muller book of " How to Score Goals When the Odds are Against You "

It’s going to be a sad day the last time he plays for the Blades.

I imagine it will end with him coming off at around 70 minuets at home.. hopefully being replaced by the next Billy...
