In the Star's piece on Sharp playing down the link, quote from Adkins that I think highlights that the personnel changes might not be drastic:

"But we’ve got to first get in there when the players come back, assess the personnel we already have at our disposal and then go from there.”

“We also have to work under the restraints of the club,” Adkins added.

“We have a lot of players under contract and we’ll have to give them the opportunities to keep moving forward.

“We’ll work with the owners because we all want the same thing, but we are mindful of the limitations of Financial Fair Play and SCMP. We will have to be wise in what we’re going.”

Now it might be the case that he assesses most of the squad as being in need of moving on, but I doubt it - he tends to try and improve those already at the clubs he's at where possible.

I think it's been said before but just having different tactics could get us another 10 to 15 points, then get the defence sorted which could gain you another 5 points or so, get another midfielder who can actually do all the things a midfielder should do instead of being half of one and we're not far off the automatics. It's easy isn't it:D

I've said before, a couple of centre halves, a midfielder and a forward. Get four quality players in and we're pretty much there I think.

Leeds signed a striker. Possibly pushes Sharp down the pecking order? They've paid 300.000 for this Lee Erwin, could they want to recupriate the cash from us?

Seems to be gathering momentum does this.

Sheffield United coach Chris Morgan thinks Billy Sharp would jump at the chance to re-join his hometown club for a third time.

Sharp, 29, still has a year to run on his contract at Leeds United but has been heavily linked with the Blades following the appointment of his old boss Nigel Adkins at Bramall Lane.

Adkins had Sharp at Scunthorpe United before signing him for £1.8m during his time in charge of Southampton

"I think it's an obvious one," Morgan told Sky Sports. "The gaffer's had him at Scunthorpe and also Southampton.

"Sharpy has made no secret of the fact he'd love another shot at coming to play for the club."

Sort the CB pairing out and everything else will fall into place . The squad last season appeared to play in a system under strict instructions , and somewhat mismanaged . It should be totally different this season where the players enjoy what they get paid for , playing football .

The momentum seems to be gathering pace for Billy Sharp . If he does come great , if not , no great loss.

McNulty , Higdon ( if fit ) , have a great chance to prove to us and themselves , that they mean business .

Lets not go mad on incoming transfers , a couple of quality players , is better than half a dozen average , any day of the week.

More chance of seeing the Queens Tits that a fit Higdon.

And if by some miracle he does get fit, someone will need to teach him how to control a football !!!!!!!

UTB.

I spoke to a leeds fan I know who claims to have good sources, more of that in a minute, and he reckons Billy is on his way here. However, one of his title bits was that they signed Smith from Oldham where he was on £700 per week and banged him on £9k per week. He's now on £16k at Fulham according to him.

The point? If Billy has a year left. Guessing on £10k per week or more as he was more proven than Smith, then leeds need to pay him off which is a far bigger barrier than any fee. Then we need to start talking wages....... I think he'd score a lot of goals (in a positive team with a manager who clearly knows how to keep him in the box) but it's expensive short term planning let alone the issue of medium term planning.

Ah then we offer him 5k per week on a two year deal, or with a increase linked to promotion and decent bonuses.

For me I'd like to see McNulty as think he's got bags of finishing ability. Who knows he might pair them up?

Perhaps he could split the cost of the lessons with McNulty?

I wonder if we can get Michael Tonge apparently he is on a free transfer.

Lets wait and see what the man who counts decides , with incomings and outgoings . He may not have the task of balancing the books , as other managers / boards in the past , but i can see some fans favourites , being sacrificed , to get the balance of the team right . Also the CB we need ain't going to be free , if any good . ( including wages )

He is in Sheffield due a charity event for LFS foundation at middlewood rovers on Saturday.

I think you should head down there and ask him what his plans are instead of seeking info from anyone that mentions his name.

Fancy that, Sheffield lad with family in the area spotted in Sheffield. He must be signing for United!

I was in Oxford the other week, doesn't mean I was putting pen to paper at the Kassam Stadium.

Maxster, there's another SUFC forum where you would fit right in, have a google mate and whilst you are at it, take your alter-ego JL94x4 with you.
