He will be backIts been an honour to watch you week in, week out! Thank you for the memories Bill, and I wish you all the best for the future and whatever it brings!!
Legend!!
I agree but Billy is all together different, from Ball boy to Captain lifelong Blade one of our own in every senseWe’ve had the good fortune to see Currie, Deane and Sharp wear the 10 shirt for the Blades. Time for someone else to honour it.
Thanks for everything Billy. Worth being spoken of amongst the greatest to play for this club.
This is a really important point. Going to matches and Billy not being there...The lane won't be the same without him, going to take some time to get used to this
Great post and your first paragraph is absolutely bang on, we knew what league we were going to be in before the seasons end, surely we knew if Billy was going to be in Heckys plans or not so he could get the appreciation he fully deserved? Embarrassing finish to what has been a truly fantastic time for him and us and we couldn’t show him what he meant to us, very poor ending to someone who didn’t deserve it, especially considering some of the players we have given the chance of another year to.Sad day for the Club, sad day for the player and a sad one for us fans because we were denied the opportunity to give him the send off he deserves. The Club haven't dealt with this properly imo and no amount of tributes on social media disguises that fact.
Natural goal scorers who score 20 plus a season and are capable of turning defeat into victory within an instant are a rare breed. You never really appreciate them until they're gone. You only have to look at BS 's goal montage to see what a very special player he was. I've been lucky to witness four in my lifetime at the Lane, Woodward, Edwards Deane and Sharp. Billy is different to the others in that he is a lifelong Blade and he lived the dream we all wanted to experience.
Wherever he goes he will continue to score goals. Its been a pleasure watching him and I sincerely hope he returns to the Club in some capacity when he hangs his boots up.
Felt like I'd been cutting onions reading that
Reading that brings it home that we’re saying goodbye to a proper blades legend.
