As I grew from a boy I into a man (seems a long time ago now!) I changed in that I no longer had favourite Blades players or heroes, instead I liked them all the same and appreciated them all for doing their individual jobs for our club. But Billy is different. He has been my favourite and he still is.

Bone fide Blades legend. Lived the dream. Arguably his most important achievement was almost single handedly preventing us dropping to League two - we mustn't forget that dark night.

Incredible achievement to be playing at Championship level at 36/37. Very rare. Cup Semis and quarters and three promotions. An incredible goal record, win % whilst holding the captaincy. Just as important for me is going to games thinking we won't be rolled over. Out run and/or out fought. That's half the battle imo

GLTTL!

Thanks Billy a true legend. The club is not going to seen the same without you. You got what it means to us fans because you are one of us yourself. Without you I am pretty certain we would not be back where we are now. The successes meant as much to you as they did for us and the lows hurt you just as they hurt the fans. I just wish we could have given you a proper send off and you could have grabbed that 250th goal. As you say once a Blade always a Blade and Bramall Lane will always be your home.

They'll never be another Billy Sharp type for us I doubt, a living legend and he was hugely important in the two promotions and did well in the pl too in fairness. His passion for the club will likely be rarely matched. I just hope he is able to return in some capacity in the future. Hope he signs for Donny but wherever I wish him all the best.

Just saw this online came here to post it. I'm a heartless emotionally autistic bastard but I had a lump in my throat reading that.

I've said loads of times it's not because he's a Blade. He's an old skool footballer who sincerely loves the game (seemingly over the fame and wealth that comes with it) that worked his way through the ranks of a club he loved and became one of their all time legends. The fact he's ours makes it far more touching for us in particular but any fan of football should be able to appreciate his tears we saw on that balcony. The lad knows what he means to us and we know what we mean to him. Might not see many more of those in the future.

Besides I'm really going to miss his shithousing. Always said I'd despise Sharp if he wasn't in a Blades shirt. How many fans always say "fuckin Sharp always scores against us!"

Billy, I know you will read this whole thread, thank you for everything you did for our club - dropping down a league to help drag us back up the leagues, the many, many fantastic goals and memories, and just generally giving your all and being a top bloke. You lived out us fans dreams.

🤍🤍
