All the best Billy, get those badges done and be back on the touch line at the Lane in a few years.

I kind of hope no one wears number 10, at least for next season. It would be devastating to see, I mean no matter who it would be they couldn't replace Billy. It would be even more devastating if McBurnie got Sharps old number.

I don't get why he can't do one more year of Prem. It's not like many fans (in real life that I have talked to) really expects us to do anything next year. We've been as bad as the pigs at getting injuries in last few seasons, we could do with at least a spare striker with experience.

I'm bitter at the moment about this, sorry. Maybe it will pass. People saying they hope he plays for Donny or Rovrum etc. I hope he doesn't! Better to go out on a high isn't it, I suppose? He said he wanted to retire at United. Hope to see him coach and/or manage us in the future... along with Monty.

Legend gets branded about all too often these days, but no doubt this time, thankyou for everything Billy

Its been an honour to watch you week in, week out! Thank you for the memories Bill, and I wish you all the best for the future and whatever it brings!!
Legend!!

Legend!!
He will be back
Mcall came back same jack Lester .
He's got two more years left him football wise and hopefully knowledge wise
Wilder was a shit right back for us but earned his belts in lower leagues .
One day I'd like to think Billy could. Show the passion of blades support and take us forward

Although I knew it was coming it's still hard to see it in print. Whatever team you support what you want is for your players to put their heart and soul into the club and this man did that for Sheffield United.

Thanks for all of it Billy.
Sharp by name, Sharp by nature.
It's been great watching you.
Always gave your best for the club.
Fair to say time is up though.
Would love to see you in the managers chair one day.

We’ve had the good fortune to see Currie, Deane and Sharp wear the 10 shirt for the Blades. Time for someone else to honour it.
Thanks for everything Billy. Worth being spoken of amongst the greatest to play for this club.
I agree but Billy is all together different, from Ball boy to Captain lifelong Blade one of our own in every sense
no disrespect to Deano and Currie but Billy is our No. 10

He was ok I guess.....

Like a few have said it's gonna be weird not knowing he might come on or is around.

I hope he isn't a stranger, I don't think he will be once he's stopped playing but I guess for now once he signs elsewhere he will be commited to that cause.

He is a true legend for us.

I'm gonna guess that there will be a friendly pre season with all 4 departing lads featuring.

Sharp might and should have something more too. Statue, stand, what about a mural too within the ground?

Sad day for the Club, sad day for the player and a sad one for us fans because we were denied the opportunity to give him the send off he deserves. The Club haven't dealt with this properly imo and no amount of tributes on social media disguises that fact.

Natural goal scorers who score 20 plus a season and are capable of turning defeat into victory within an instant are a rare breed. You never really appreciate them until they're gone. You only have to look at BS 's goal montage to see what a very special player he was. I've been lucky to witness four in my lifetime at the Lane, Woodward, Edwards Deane and Sharp. Billy is different to the others in that he is a lifelong Blade and he lived the dream we all wanted to experience.

Wherever he goes he will continue to score goals. Its been a pleasure watching him and I sincerely hope he returns to the Club in some capacity when he hangs his boots up.
Great post and your first paragraph is absolutely bang on, we knew what league we were going to be in before the seasons end, surely we knew if Billy was going to be in Heckys plans or not so he could get the appreciation he fully deserved? Embarrassing finish to what has been a truly fantastic time for him and us and we couldn’t show him what he meant to us, very poor ending to someone who didn’t deserve it, especially considering some of the players we have given the chance of another year to.

That 1 hour long video United uploaded of his goals - left foot, right foot, headers, penalties no messing, volleys, tap-ins, pouncing - he's got the lot. The volley at home to Leeds in the 2nd minute, the technique for that is top class. The way he allows the ball to do the work, just a class striker in every sense of the word.

Sentiment-wise keep hold but in terms of rebuilding the team, he needs to go. Sadly.

Thanks Bill 👏👏👏👏👏

A true Blades legend and the closest thing we have ever had in my lifetime to Mr Sheffield United

A great ambassador and representative of the club on and off the field. A proper captain, talisman and inspiration. He lived the dream of all of us but was bloody good at it too.

So many memories. Thanks for everything Billy.

Like most fans throughout the country , Blades supporters have always had a deep affection for those players who wore the shirt with pride and gave 100% every time they played .

When that attribute is combined with an astonishing ability to constantly excel in the role they are asked to play , that player rightfully acquires the status of club legend .

In respect of both those categories , few can match the standards achieved by the great Billy Sharp .

I shall dearly miss him but will always be hugely grateful for his invaluable contribution to our club.

Stevenage away when his child had died . Never seen an out pouring of emotion from blades fans .
We literally all stood by him and showed our support .
Certain clubs Derby county included sang sad songs to berate his loss ) how anyone can knock a human being for losing their child is brain-dead.

Not only do careers like this not happen much, with the world of football growing its going to happen less and less.
It'll probably never happen at this club ever again.

Thank you Billy, I hope he enjoyed the ride as much as we did.

Edit *
Now raise the flag.

In a time when arrogant sponging, cheating, mercenaries are dominating football Billy has been a stellar example of what a proper footballer should be. Grounded in his club and community and utterly determined to do his best. A hero to many and a vital inspiration for the players who have joined the club without having a full understanding of what it is to be a Blade. I wish him all the best for the future and my thanks for the memories. I would love it if he returns again to BTDTBL in some capacity.

I'll miss reading View From and not seeing " Sharpe always scores against us.." Misspelling et al

It's when you think back and remember when we brought him back under Adkins that a player of his calibre wasn't a realistic signing for us. We only got him because he was willing to drop to a level beneath himself to rescue a club on its knees. For him to end his time with us on a second promotion to the Premier League wasn't on the cards.

It'll be a long time till you see a story as good as Billy's written again in Sheffield.
